The BeatlesREVOLVER vinyl stereo LP 1C 072-04 097 in very good condition
12" vinyl LP withinner sleeve, released by Parlophone, 14 tracks. YEX 605 YEX 606 matrixnumbers. Stereo. APPLE EMI ELECTROLA Printed in Germany by 4P Nicolaus GMBH,koln.
This is a very unusualcover, with the boxed word apple above the REVOLVER title on the front cover –RARE !
Arguably the first psychedelic rock album, REVOLVER was praised for itsmusical experimentation--the Indian sounds of "Love You To," theMotown-inspired "Got To Get You Into My Life," the backwards guitarin "I'm Only Sleeping." "Tomorrow Never Knows" was the mostradical departure from previous Beatles' recordings for its skeletal bass/drumspropulsion enhanced only with tape loops (contributed by all four Beatles andadded in the mix-down process), more backwards guitar, and an eerie John Lennonvocal. Still, the Beatles' experimentation grew out of their songwriting, whichhad matured beyond formula pop. "Tomorrow Never Knows" was inspiredby the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Harrison's "Taxman" was a bitterdiatribe, and McCartney's "Eleanor Rigby" was a bleak portrait ofloneliness. Balanced with upbeat songs like "Good Day Sunshine" and"Yellow Submarine," REVOLVER proved The Beatles were not mere popstars, but musical artists in search of new sounds and ideas.
