This is a very good album, it has all the hallmarks of the flaming lips and you can hear the similarities as well as how they've developed since "she don't use Jelly". More importantly, it's very easy to hear the makings of one of the best albums ever "The Soft Bulletin" their 1999 masterpiece. It really is all here the chord structures, the themes (eg Placebo headwound, has a more then a pinch of The Spark That Bled). If you liked their early stuff, their recent stuff or anything these guys have done, get this album it's very good. There is some room for improvement, there isn't an instant classic on here that every album they've done since haqs (eg "waiting for a superman" tSB, "Do you realize" YBtPR and "the Yeah Yeah Yeah Song"). But at the same time there are no bad songs. The album sounds comlete, polished and well structured. Definitely oine for existing fans, maybe not one to introduce you to the Lips though.Read full review
