I bought this book as it was recommended by a colleague. I had previously read a book by Barbara Kingsolver and she said you liked her Poisonwood Bible you will love this book. It's by Chris Cleave the book is also know as Little Bee, but goes under its more popular title " The Other Hand". Its about a girl who left the war in Nigeria for a better place in the UK. She only knew one person when she arrived. There are so many surprises in this book. Great value and postage very reasonable.
The Other Hand Two female characters share the narration of The Other Hand in alternating chapters; Little Bee, a young Nigerian refugee and Sarah, a wife, mother and successful editor of a cutting edge women’s magazine. The easy to follow flow of past and present events gradually reveal the true nature of their relationship and the depth of their experiences both together and individually.
Not my sort of book sorry

This is a really thought provoking book which makes you think about what really goes on in other countries.... I couldn't put it down. I had read it previously and bought if for a friend who I knew would really enjoy it also.
When we live in a society which sees immigrants as a problem, this book will make you see another side - one which does not often have much news coverage. Chris Cleave shows the unacceptable side of human nature where individuals cease to have the most basic right of living without fear. There are no real solutions, yet we must keep trying to find them. Please read and then pass the book on.
