The breathtaking performance of Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawkings caught most of my attention the first time round - he fully deserved his Oscar for playing this mentally and physically challenging role so well - but Felicity Jones is very good too. The film is engaging and well shot and gentle on Hawkings. Because it makes him out to be nicer than he seems to have been in real life and does not portray the full extent of the illness, the film remains very much a feel-good movie which can raise some interesting questions about life.

This film gives an insight into the life of Stephen Hawking which might be somewhat romanticised but there is still enough edge to it to make it interesting. The characters seem to be quite well portrayed, and Eddie Redmayne exceeds all expectations when it comes to his role as Hawking. I think he was exceptional in this role.

This was the best film I have seen for a long time, I could watch it over and over again without getting bored, and the acting by Eddie Redmayne is absolutely outstanding deserved every award it received.
