For auction are two tickets for early access to view and photograph the last 6 A4 class locomotives remaining in the world when they are brought together for the last ever time to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Mallard breaking the steam record on 3rd July 1938.
The tickets are now completely sold out for all dates as demand has been extraordinarily high!
You will be part of the limited numbers of people who get to see the locomotives being shunted into position then enjoy exclusive pre-event access and view and photograph the engines up-close. Tea and coffee served on arrival.
This is the last chance to see all six A4 locomotives together before the transatlantic locomotives return to their home museums in late spring/early summer 2014. Sir Nigel Gresley, Bittern and Union of South Africa will be in light steam, with one of the locomotives positioned on the platform (see below) to the left of the collections building to allow easier access. The order of the six steam icons changes each day, so anyone making a repeat visit can get new photos for the album:
The event is taking place at NRM Shildon, the sister museum of NRM York.
We booked these tickets as soon as they went on sale but unfortunately had incorrect information about school term dates meaning our son (the enthusiast!) is at school and they are now very strict about absences. We have e-tickets for this event which can either be emailed to you or posted, whichever is easier.
Any questions please ask!
