'Flood' was the third album from TMBG and the two Johns [plus some friends] certainly excelled themselves this time! If you have read my other reviews of TMBG's albums you will know I am reviewing them in chronological order, have enjoyed them immensely thus far and sincerely hope they continue to get better and better... Once again all the elements that make TMBG so enoyable are here; quirky lyrics, interesting vocals, dark topics and jolly tunes, and, of course, the accordian. It is hard to fault this album as even the tracks you don't like first time round have an annoying habit of growing on you. Such is the magic of TMBG. But, having said that, those tracks aren't all that bad really. There are a number of truly excellent tracks here so it is so very hard for me to pick a 'best track' but under extreme torture (amid the acrid smell of burning flesh) I might be heard screaming out 'Birdhouse In Your Soul' or maybe (as my fingernails are ripped out with pliers) 'Istanbul (Not Constantinople)' might fall from my lips but, then again (as the electrodes are applied to my gonads) I might sob 'We Want A Rock' through my tears. Who can really say for sure? Well, TMBG have set the bar pretty high this time and I can hardly wait to review 'Miscellaneous T' (a compilation album). This one ['Flood'] is an absolute must, buy it without further delay... Regards tbodRead full review
