I have purchased several types of Thor hammers of my own over the past few years. They are so versatile.I prefer the solid wooden handles and the fact that the insets can be replaced if they wear out. This hammer has a hard and a softer face.As a retired Automotive Technician I found them extremely tough and dependable and the inserts lasted for years.Spare parts are readily available today for Thor tools made in the 60’s.We used Thor hammers in the workshop which gave excellent service and took quite a beating but never let us down.I owned a Leather faced Thor hammer used to remove wing nuts on the wire wheels on my 1966 MGB car and used the Copper faced hammers to protect the threads on Axle spindles and the Thor 712R Soft And Hard faced hammers are ideal to protect delicate thread work and are very soft on wood handles when chiseling and rebating carpentry joints. The list of uses are endless. They are a hammer that you’ll only have to buy once in your lifetime!Read full review

Great hammer and made in England! I got it for use with chisels. Has a nice feel and just the right weight. My only complaint is the labels stuck to the handle leave a lot of residue, had to use acetone to get it off. Other than that this is a great hammer!

Unfortunately I received a hammer with the head assembled out of square with the handle. I put it in a hydraulic press and persuaded it square. I use this hammer for woodworking, and it delivers a good punch if you really swing it, and a delicate tap if you don’t. The softer side works well for assembly and the harder side gives good feedback. It’s a very good hammer for chiseling.

This is a British quality product. Often copied, but never beaten. I bought mine for hitting wood chisels. The soft face is excellent for wooden handles and the hard face can be used on plastic handled chisels. This product just feels right in the hand!

Arrived on time, and I am very happy with this hammer. It is a good weight with a face that will not damage a wooden handled chisel. Felt good to use, I would recommend to any hand tool enthusiast.
