Dedicated Wiring Kits

Dedicated wiring kits consists of a vehicle specific wiring harness and control unit with vehicle connectors and relays designed to fit and operate specifically with your vehicle.

Most kits consist of a trailer control unit, loom with corresponding plug in connectors, power and communication cables, fully detailed vehicle specific pictorial instructions and a high quality 7 or 13 pin socket. In addition you will also find a quantity of cable ties, fuses, and grommets necessary to complete the installation.

Dedicated wiring kits are better than universal kits, because dedicated kits are specially designed to work in harmony with your vehicle’s electrical system. Some will communicate with other vehicle control units to alter other vehicle settings accordingly. This will also activate the dash trailer indicator warning light, deactivate parking aids and the rear fog lamps. These are model dependant features.

Dedicated wiring kits are generally not that difficult to fit, much depends on the vehicle make and model. In some cases, a high degree of expertise is required. If installation is beyond your capability, we STRONGLY recommend you have it installed by a reputable towbar fitting company. They may even be able to re-code the vehicle subject to having the equipment.

The benefits of a dedicated kit, is that when you tow the kit will alter (model dependant) the vehicle systems such as the trailer stability control program, suspension settings, traction control and anti-lock braking.

Dedicated wiring kits operate three types of warning device (model dependant), audible bleeper, visual dash warning light when indicating and the original indicator warning light will flash at twice the usual rate when a trailer indicator has failed.

In most cases, a dedicated kit will perform the full light functions after correct installation and a recode will not be required. However, if you wish to benefit from the additional safety features and other functions, then a recode may be required. Full recode details are included in the kit.

No Dealer Download required: Kit will perform full light functions without dealer recode.
Dealer Download Optional: Kit will perform full light functions, but will need dealer recode for disabling rear parking sensors & switch on visual warning device.
Dealer Download Compulsory: Kit will need a dealer recode for all functions, lights and safety features.

Dedicated kits wiring colours are different to the U.K. standard colours. The colours in the dedicated kit loom may conform to ISO1724. The designation and the colours are detailed below.

Some dedicated kits are only available with a 13 pin socket, when your caravan has two 7 pin plugs, adaptors are available that will convert from a 13 pin socket into either both 12N/12S 7 pin sockets for twin electrics or from a 13 pin socket to a single 7 pin socket for normal light functions.

Some dedicated kits are only available with a 7 pin socket, when your caravan has a 13 pin plug, adaptors are available that will convert from 12N/12S 7 pin sockets into both 12N/12S functions in a 13 pin socket for twin electrics or from a 12N 7 pin socket to a 12N 13 pin socket for normal light functions.

Return And Refund

Customers have 7 working days starting from the date of receipt when returning item/s to P F Jones. We are unable to accept item/s outside of this time frame.

Upon wanting to return an item/s customers can arrange their own shipping of the purchased item/s. Alternatively P F Jones can arrange to collect the item/s, there is a charge for this service.

The customer is responsible for the safe transit of the item/s until P.F. Jones Manchester has received the goods. Once the goods have been received, inspected and are deemed to be in a re-saleable condition in the original packaging a refund will be made via the original payment method. Original postage and packing costs will not be refunded.

P F Jones will not be held responsible for any damage caused by the customer to any item/s purchased that have been used against the manufacturer's instructions or misused in anyway. The following conditions apply to and are deemed to be incorporated in all contracts for sale and supply of the company's services and materials.

By purchasing an item from P F Jones you are agreeing to abide by the following Terms and Conditions.

The placing of an order expresses acceptance of our terms and conditions of business. These terms and conditions do not affect the customer's statutory rights.

All prices shown include Value Added Tax (VAT) at the statutory rate current at the date of invoice. The company reserves the right to alter prices and / or specifications at any time and without prior notice.

Contract to supply goods at the price stated has not been confirmed until the order has been placed, payment has been made and confirmation of the goods has been dispatched via email to the customer.  P F Jones may withdraw this offer to supply up until the point of dispatch confirmation.

We are only able to ship to fixed residential or business addresses to certain countries within the EU. Please call 0161 886 5798 to see if postage is possible to your area. 

We are unable to ship to BFPO or PO Box addresses.

Payment

Payment for items purchased through eBay must be made within 3 working days of the initial order. Accepted payment methods are shown in the "Payments" page on our eBay shop.  P F Jones reserve the right to notify eBay of any unpaid items via any appropriate method - including the feedback system and none payment system.

No goods shall pass from the company to the customer unless and until the customer has made full and complete payment to the company.  If payment is not made in full and the goods have been shipped then P F Jones retains title of goods. If payment is made and then is withdrawn once goods have been shipped P F Jones will seek to recover the goods or the value of the goods plus expenses. Interest will be charged at the rate of 8% above bank base rate.

It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the correct item has been chosen to fit the vehicle supplied.  The make, model and year stated refer to the production run of the vehicle not necessarily the actual year of the vehicle.  If clarification is required please check prior to ordering.  If the incorrect product is supplied due to a failure of this then P F Jones will at the customer’s expense, exchange the product so long as it falls within the 7 day return policy.

Any information provided as instructions on fitting your item/s are passed on to us from the items manufacturer.  P F Jones cannot be held responsible for any inaccuracies with this data and will not be held responsible for any damage caused.

We request that customers do not arrange for the fitment of the item until delivery has been made and checked to ensure that the equipment supplied is correct or not faulty in any way.  P F Jones cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred because of this reason or any other reason.

Delivery

If the item is delivered damaged or you suspect the item to be damaged please refuse the item or open and check the contents thoroughly.  If you sign for the item and later claim that it is damaged or that parts are missing we cannot replace the item/s free of charge. 

Guarantee

The company guarantees that should our products not be below standard or in any way different from what is advertised. 
If the item develops a fault and it is over 30 days from the purchase date then we will advise on the procedures for claiming under the manufacturer’s warranty.  No claim for any losses relating to a problem with the item can be made.

Complaints or non-receipt of goods must be reported to the company in writing within 7 working days of order date.
P F Jones will not be held responsible for any costs incurred due to a faulty product.  This clause does not affect your statutory rights.

Transit Terms and Conditions

We select a number of carriers on your behalf in order to transport the package to you as quickly as possible however in the unfortunate circumstance that there is a problem the following will help.

Damaged Parcels

If an item is perceived to be damaged this will need to be refused or if available signed for as damaged.  In each case we must be notified within 24 hours of the parcel being delivered, this can be either in writing, by email or by calling our office.  If by email you must receive a response within 24 hours (Automated response not included) otherwise you must call our office.

We will then receive a claim number from the carrier and the replacement or missing items will then be dispatched out to you upon the original item being collected and returned to us for inspection.

You agree to cooperate with any investigation made by the carrier and with arranging a convenient day for the damaged item to be collected.  If the courier has been unable to collect the item from the customer due to the fault of the customer we reserve the right to charge for future collection attempts. 

Missing Parcels

If your parcel is missing then this will have to be verified with the courier. As soon as they issue a claims number then a replacement will be dispatched using the same service method.

If the original item has been found then it must be refused by the customer so it can be returned to sender.  If it is accepted and we are informed that the customer has received both items then it has to be returned to P F Jones at the customers cost or both items will be charged to the customer

Price Beating 

We actively check prices of our competitors on a constant basis however we do miss a cheaper price from time to time.
We will only price match on a like for like basis.  For example the item must be made by the same manufacturer and include the same accessories.
The item must be in stock and available at the competitor.
This is only offered on new products and does not include second hand items.
The item must be validated by a P F Jones senior staff member, prior to us beating our competitor’s price.

Tow bars & The Law

European Law states that all light passenger vehicles registered on or after the 1st August 1998 require a type approved tow bar tested to EC94120, & tow ball with suitable D&S value. This is not retrospective and does not affect any vehicle registered before this date. Other vehicles not subject to type approval are - commercial vehicles, car derived vans and motor caravans.

Quality

All tow bars are designed with the aid of the latest CAD technology to fit precisely to the vehicle manufacturer's designated mounting points and are renowned for their ease of fit & unobtrusive appearance.

Once the design is tested and approved to rigorous European standard EC94/20, it is then manufactured by our experienced production team using only certified British steel and finished in a high quality primer.

British & European Standards

All tow bars comply with ISO 1102 & (BS AU 113) which specifies the dimensions & location of the tow bar to ensure a safe & level towing height between 350mm & 420mm ground to centre of tow ball. EC94/20 the European Regulation: the tow bars are totally committed to conform to this standard & continue to have a full testing program in conjunction with the Vehicle Certification Agency.
