Sleeps up to five, this is a two bedroom house, retaining many of its original features and based on three levels, situated in an elevated hillside position. Thus affording incredible views from the back terrace and garden, of the Château and also across open fields to the Antilles Spa Centre. All facilities were new in 2013, including UK and French satellite TV, BluRay DVD, Wifi, a CD/AM/FM player and telephone. A secure, private off-street garage is available for a car, motorbikes or cycles.

The house generates a welcoming 'home from home' feel the moment you walk in the front door, providing very comfortable accommodation in which to enjoy your holiday. An original centuries old historic property, it has been thoughtfully and tastefully restored and refurbished in February 2013.

Chez Alouette has all the facilities you will need for a relaxing holiday. The outside is brought into the house by the south facing, elevated terrace, which is on the same level as the reception/kitchen. All amenities are close by in the town so if you choose to skip cooking and extend the sunbathing, then there are an excellent choice of restaurants merely minutes away!

This fantastic town house is only 3 minutes walk from the town centre with a great atmosphere, quaint cobbled streets, a busy covered market, restaurants and bars, located in a quiet side street and virtually next door to Château de Jonzac. Although in the centre of town, the house backs onto open fields, with tremendous views complete peace and tranquillity. Jonzac is unique, a historical spa town and health resort, the season for holidaymakers is 10 months per year, therefore whenever you visit our lovely home, there is always something to do! A beautiful Château, a historic Romanesque Church, an area of outstanding beauty and religious importance, Jonzac is the jewel in the crown of the French west coast. With the Atlantic resorts and surfing beaches only 45 minutes drive, or Bordeaux a similar distance, there are plenty of popular and famous places to visit such as Cognac, St Emillion, Saintes, Royan, Rochefort and La Rochelle, the location is perfect.

Although in the centre of the town, Chez Alouette is a very peaceful retreat. With its own secure, secluded, south facing private garden, you can enjoy tranquil days and evenings in complete privacy. The pretty garden shaded by a fig tree, has all the facilities you could wish for, with an outside gas barbecue, seating, dining and relaxation area on the raised terrace and below, accessed by steps is the garden and lawn, which has a paved patio area for seating and dining, plus sun loungers and a large parasol, ensuring you enjoy your holiday, whatever time of the year.

The kitchen has ample work surfaces and units, a fridge with freezer section. An espresso coffee machine, electric kettle, 4 plate ceramic hob, toaster, microwave combi-oven, full range of cooking utensils, cutlery, plates, bowls, cups and glasses for 6.  Leading out from the kitchen on the same level and overlooking the rear garden is an elevated, south facing semi-covered terrace. The views are truly magnificent and large enough for al-fresco dining, enjoying the views from the shade, or sunbathing.

On the first floor, there is a double bedroom, with a double bed, wardrobe, under-bed storage. Also on the first floor is a separate bathroom with a large power shower, sink and toilet, heated towel rail, razor power point and with beautiful countryside views from the window.

On the second floor, there is a large living room area/2nd bedroom with double bed (a very comfortable bed-settee) /lounge/bureau area, including a second settee, Sat UK and French TV and BluRay DVD with a choice of DVDs. A comfortable room with a 5th bed if required.

A large cellar, hewn out of solid rock, ideal for keeping your wine cool!  Cleaning equipment, clothes dryer,  washing machine, second toilet, vacuum cleaner, broom, pan and brush. Plenty of room for storage of cases etc.

Towels and bed linen are provided and if your stay is longer than one week, these are changed weekly. Garden will be tended, grass cut etc at the same time.

These prestigious awards are the highest level for the property in its class and a measure of our commitment in providing the highest possible accommodation standards for our clients.

The house also has a large private garage for storing your car and cycles off the street. There is also a removable child safety gate to block off the stairs or garden steps if required.

Royan is the nearest ocean beach town, approximately 45Km. As well as a fantastic coast for sunbathing and surfing, there is a magnificent zoo, great restaurants and beachside bars, an activity centre and children's entertainment areas etc.

Blaye is also close by, as is Mortagne-sur-Gironde , both on the Gironde Estuary. Blaye is an ancient fortified town, famous for its quality wines and has a ferry to the wine districts of Medoc. Mortagne-sur-Gironde is a pretty harbour side fishing village.

There are a good selection of golf courses close by, in Cognac, a well kept parkland course meandering through vineyards. Also courses at Angouleme, Saintes, Royan, Bordeaux and 2 exceptional courses at Lacanau Ocean, due west of Bordeaux. Further details are available in the information pack at the property.

Guest comments:

June/July2013. We have just spent a week at Chez Alouette, the weather was fantastic, the house was a delight, with a super terrace outside the kitchen, a beautifulgarden area and patio. The garden backs onto open fields and farmland, remarkable really as the  house is alsovery close to the town centre and restaurants. Brasserie Jonzacais was very good value and a great atmosphere and just across the square from the Chateauis the Hotel Coq D'or, which served great meals and drinks. We will definitely be returning next year! Thank you Sue and Steve for providing such a lovely holiday home!

June 2013. Great location, very comfortable house with all that you need, good value for money. Why bother with the countryside when you can get a location like this! Will definitely book again when in Europe.
