The sounds of the late 80's and early 90's festivals billow like the smoke of a bonfire (and some other more psychedelic contraptions) everytime I play this fabulous cd. Its an original 1992 cd in very good condition, I was surprised at its price - you can buy cheaper later issues on Amazon. But the 92 issue is quite rare. The Ozrics and Hawkwind on one cd - outrageously good, it also captures more obscure bands like tubilah dog who are about to issue a brand new album (dont hold your breath - too long). For your dub, space rock, psych, raggae/ragga sonic head music lover- its ace.
This is not strictly a Hawkwind release as such, more a compilation of bands that knocked around the UK free festival scene of the late 80s/early 90s with them including the mighty Ozric Tentacles, roots reggae band The Rhythm-ites, space rocking Tubilah Dog and a few other weirdos and oddities! For anyone who attended these events etc. this is a must have release and is chock full of classic tracks which will no doubt bring back some hazy memories? For anyone else it is a record of a time when the festival season stretched all summer prior to the government stamping on the scene and making many events illegal! Just be sure you missed some fun times!?!! Many of these events were hastily arranged and a bit chaotic, but spawned many great bands and some fantastic music... A great historical document of a music scene pretty much spurned by the music industry at large, just buy, sit back and enjoy!Read full review
I own this on vinyl, but not wanting to keep playing this copy and seeing the bargain price on the cd, i decided to purchase. Great service from the seller, but the quality of the cd is pretty poor with drop outs and wavering stereo. Not to be recommended, which is a shame as the actual CD is an interesting collection of tracks from a fascinating period in music...the much missed free festival scene.
Wow, had this on vinyl back in the day. Very good compilation of the sounds of the Free Fezzy Circuit back in '88 and extremely good value for money.
