RELISTED WITH NEW INFORMATION
FOR SPARES OR RESTORATION
We have been in business for over 25 years and we specialise in the repair and restoration of Stags.
We acquired this vehicle several years ago, with the intention of carrying out a full restoration at some point, but we are now moving premises and we don't have the storage capacity at our new unit, so this car must be moved on.
Starting with the shell, the pictures show the worst areas of corrosion, the most obvious being the nearside sill, which is badly holed where it joins the quarter panel; the matching area on the offside has some surface corrosion, but this could probably be made presentable without much difficulty, for full repairs at a later date, should you wish to keep initial costs to a minimum.
The floors show some signs of previous patch repairs and there is a small hole under the rear seat base that requires attention, but it's generally solid.
The boot floor is sound, but the lid will probably need replacing with a better secondhand item.
The door bottoms have had some previous work, but they are in fully repairable condition.
The front end has no major corrosion and should tidy up easily.
The wheelarches all appear solid.
The hood frame is in good condition, but the covering is badly faded and shrunk, so will require replacement.
The interior is reasonably complete; the door cards are missing, as are the centre sections of the carpets, the glove box area of the dash, the front seats and rear seat base.
Mechanically, the engine and gearbox are complete, except for the radiator, but the engine is partially seized; we managed to turn it about 40 degrees in both directions, but it won't go any further and we haven't investigated what the cause might be.
Over the course of time, we have removed various parts to use on other cars, but as mentioned, we are in the process of packing up and moving and we think we may have restorable replacements for some of the missing items (including front seats and bumpers) which we will include, however, there is no guarantee of this, so it would be best to assume that these parts will need to be sourced.**
**Added: we have now found a pair of restorable front seats (they could be used as is) and some servicable bumpers, which will go with the car.
We lost the original paperwork, but to keep everything simple, we recently registered the car to ourselves and declared the vehicle SORN, so a current V5 is present, but there is no further history.
In short, this is a solid and virtually complete vehicle, that is an excellent base as a restoration project.
We are happy to answer any questions, but if you're in any doubt about the condition of the car, make an appointment and come and see it.
Please note, we never reveal reserves (but we know what this is worth, so the reserve is sensible and it got very close last time) and we won't end the auction early.
Our usual terms apply, a small deposit at the end of the auction, cash balance in full within 7 days; obviously the car will need to be trailered away.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
