I am selling some of my G scale collection over the coming weeks so please check my other listings .
This auction is for an USA trains Union Pacific Big Boy in 1:29 scale in excellent condition . Superbly detailed and finished to a very high standard this is an excellent locomotive . The sound unit in it is quite superb ,made by phoenix sound systems , producing a completely authentic steam engine sound exactly as the Big Boy sounded in real life .The loco sound automatically increases as the speed is increased and the whistle blasts also function automatically on start -up and as the locomotive accelerates . The bell and whistle can also be triggered by an LGB track magnet . The loco has not been run that much and mainly on indoor layouts .
The loco is DCC ready and not set up for digital running , but the conversion is quite straightforward and the top of the boiler is easy to remove to get to the electronics underneath ( four screws to remove )
The interior cab detail is excellent , with two men seated inside the cab and working firebox doors . There are control switches in front of the cab underneath two panels ( see picture and excuse the finger to hold them both open ) These are the volume control , digital/analogue , lights,smoke ,etc controls , plus a jack input for plugging into your computer to change the settings for digital running .The loco and tender are connected via a multi-pin plug during running . The loco can only negotiate a minimum 16' diameter or 32' radius curve ( R5 in LGB track terms ) .
I have taken a lot of photos of the loco and it is proving quite difficult to photograph properly due to its size .The overall length of loco and tender is 57 inches . The loco is quite a deep matt black with a graphite colour section at the end of the loco boiler . All the manuals are complete including wiring diagrams , full Big Boy history and manual about the model as well as a comprehensive manual about the phoenix sound system .
The loco is huge and extremely heavy ( total weight is 45kgs or about 100lbs ) and will require a bit of disscussion about how to post and deliver , i may be able to meet someone halfway or will deliver it myself within 200 miles or so of where i live , this can all be arranged , or post it as two parcels as the loco and tender have seperate wooden boxes , are sorounded by polystyrene moulds and are bolted onto wooden base plates within the box . The boxes are very strong and will themselves be packaged for posting . The boxes on the exterior have some scratches and marks on them where they have been moved around , but do a very good job of protecting the loco inside .
I paid a lot of money for the loco when i bought it and the new release ones are now very expensive .
The loco has not been run much and mainly on my indoor layout in my loft ,it is extremely powerful , with two huge Pittman motors and a very strong gear-box and drive unit . It will pull very long trains indeed ( see you tube for the longest model G-scale train pulled by a USA train Big Boy ). The amazing thing is it draws the least power of my large locomotives , which i would say is down to the quality of the Pittman motors in it .

I will post worldwide but please check with me for the ACTUAL COST of doing this first as it will be expensive from the UK . I will only charge what it costs to post , whether it is more or less than the price stated . I have been investigating shipping prices including insurance and the £90 for the uk seems about right including insurance . Abroad is much harder , but Europe would be up to £150 , including insurance as a rough guide .
