Uniden 2830 Working but has faults so spares / repair
If you're looking at this then you already know how good these radios are.
Here for sale is a Uniden 2830. It's the same radio as the President Lincoln.
The radio comes with power lead and original Uniden microphone that has the UP/Down buttons on.
As you can see it's a bit scruffy and will not win any concourse contests. Please see the pictures below. More pics available on request.
The radio does actually work. It recieves and transmits however I have listed as spares / repairs due to:
1: The water mark in the display. I guess at some point in it's life someone was a bit too heavy handed with the switch cleaner on the frequency selector.
2: The frequency selector sometimes is unresponsive when you try to go up in frequency. A comon fault I believe.
3: Sometimes the display takes a couple of seconds to come on after switch on.
4: The LCD display I feel is a bit weak although it's not helped by the daft blue LED backlight.
5: There's something wrong in the driver section of the power amp. The driver is pulling 250ma bias current and refuses to drop below that. This is 5 times what it should be so it needs to be fixed else you'll be blowing driver transistors every 10 minutes. That said, the radio is still transmitting 15 watts on FM and 20 ssb with a whistle so I am guessing the MRF477 final is ok. As a footnote the MRF477 does bias ok at 50ma.
I have probably missed more so please do not take the above as a defnitive list. Take it as a starting point.
I don't have the time to go through the rig end to end and it's too good to scrap so hopefully someone can make good use of the old girl.
Postage will be with Collect+ (Yodel) standard service and costs £6.19 according to their website.
and now the sadly small print:
Anyone with a feedback of less than 10, please message me first before bidding else I will remove your bid.
If paying with a U.K. bank cheque there will be a 10 working day delay in posting the radio to ensure all funds are cleared.
Non U.K. bank cheques will NOT be accepted.
Cashier's cheques / checks NOT accepted and I do not post to downtown Lagos.
No returns accepted. This is a spares / repairs item.
This auction is a U.K. only auction. Insured postage outside the UK is stupidly expensive
Just to re-iterate:
THIS RADIO IS SPARES OR REPAIRS.
