Well here we have a nice winter project for someone with the time and space! I started this last summer but ran out of cash and time. What is it?? Its a V8 Mini! (or it will be) - the shell is that of a 1979 classic Mini. With a custom designed chassis which is 3/4 complete, this enables a 3.5L Rover V8 to be longitudinally mounted in the front of the car, the power is transmitted to the back via a prop shaft connected to a Mazda LSD. Whats included: The shell - completely stripped, numerous replacement herritage pannels have attached. to replace the rust. there is no rust left on the car! There are a few bits of body work that will need completing, but obviouslt you will want to have it completely sprayed anyway so that can be done then. All panels are included, wings, doors, boot, all glass. the chassis is made from extremely solid steel, to complete the car you will need to finish the front end of the chassis, and make some outriggers to attach the body - steel (new) included for all this. The front and rear sub franes are perfect for the job, they are from a Mazda MX5, the rear one includes the complete diff, shafts, hubs etc, the front also includes hubs, etc, however there are no brake calipers (front or back) But a full set of brake disks are included. the engine isn EFI a 3.5 rover v8, complete, but will need an alternator. You will probably want to do a basic rebuild for peace-of-mind but shouldn't be necessary. There is no loom though, you may want to use a Mini loom for the electrics and fit the engine with a good old 4-barrel carb to keep it simple, less electrics to worry about. includes a set of mini-lite style MX5 wheels and tyres (15") and new fibreglass wheel arches. What will you need? - a gearbox - brake calipers - brake lines etc - a fuel tank + system depending on if you go EFi or carb - a seat TIME!.. and space... oh and welding skills!
