An Antique Pine Chest of Drawers Victorian or
Chest with two short over three long drawers. The
chest is made from pine with turned beech knobs. It has been stripped and waxed
with Black Bison Antique Pine wax
The three longer drawers are graduated in size,
all the drawers have their original locks but there are no keys. The top of
the chest has a simple rounded moulding around the front and sides. The base
has a substantial rounded moulding and it sits on well proportioned turned
bun feet. The drawers have dovetailed construction and the back of the chest
is made from wide pine boards.
has many cosmetic flaws from wear and tear from many years of use....it has knocks
and nicks and natural shrinkage gaps, and has been filled /or given minor
repairs during restoration, all of which add to its general patina, as would
be expected from this type of furniture.
Pretty much all over there are also traces of the
original iron oxide base paint, which gives a pink/red glow to the item.
The two smaller drawers are15cms deep, one of
the knobs seems to be a different colour shade to the others on all draws,
however the turning is a complete match and the wood appears the same – so I
think it has been like this since originally made, rather than a replacement
The long draws are 17, 20 and 25cms deep
I have done my best to give a complete view of
the condition via the photos, overall, this is an impressive chest – its unusually
large and looks very good on the broad bun feet.
You can collect this chest from me – I am 5mins
from J11 of the M1, also happy to arrange a courier for farther afield
Maximum width 105.5cm.
