Boer War (1899-1902)
Up for auction I have this nice white metal/silver gilt QVC General Service Corps button dating to c1871-1901. Being white metal/silver gilt I’m assuming this is an officer’s button rather than a general soldiers button but please feel free to let me know if I’m wrong. Please judge for yourself the condition of the button from the pictures and if it’s in a condition you would be happy with. This button is as found in a tin of old buttons I bought at auction so it has a lovely aged tone to it. The buttons back comes complete with rear loop and has a maker’s stamp of a moth with initials and the number 26 with EXTRA RICH below. I’ve tried researching this manufacturer but I’m unable to find anything to help date the button more precisely. Approximate diameter of the button is 17mm and it weighs approx 2.05g. A nice early button that would make a great addition to any collection. One pence not included in the sale! Any questions just ask and I may be able to help hopefully!
