Large Jug-Form Vase
1934 - 40's
This Super Vase was made at Arthur Wood's Bradwell Pottery in Longport Staffordshire.
The Vases feature a Design called "Wild Flower".
The Wild Flower Design had a number of Variations. Based on the Initial Sculpted Vase, Applied Flowers or Painted Decoration was often added.
But this Vase is the Original Basic Wild Flower Design - No Added Embellishments, just a Lovely Straightforward Art Deco Sculpted Vase.
The Vase is in a Pale Green Glaze which has been Washed to remove the Glaze from the Most Raised Areas.
The Decoration has Floral and Leaf Moudings across the Surface with additional Small Flowers to Decorate the Handle.
The Vase is in Baluster Form and is 8 1/8" Tall, with a Circular Base of 3 7/8" in Diameter and a Top Rim which is 4" across.
It Measures 6 1/2" from Tip of Rim to Back of Handle.
The Base is Impressed with "MADE IN ENGLAND WILD FLOWER" around a Stamped Mark.
The Mark has a Globe with "ARTHUR WOOD" in a Banner across the Centre. The Word "QUALITY" appears at the Top of the Globe and "MADE IN ENGLAND" beneath it.
This Mark was used from 1934 and replaced in 1945.
The Vase is in Excellent Condition. There are No Chips, Cracks or Crazing.
All of my pottery is well packed before posting.
