VINTAGE DECORATIVE HUNTLEY & PALMERS BISCUIT TIN - Wedgewood Design White on Blue
MADE IN ENGLAND
Nice early decorative round tin, made by Huntley and Palmers and inspired by the Wedgewood Blue and White pottery, which in itself was inspired by classical scenes and artefacts.
This tin is not in pristine condition, but it shows signs of wear which I feel actually add to its vintage character. There is wear on the enamelling and there are a couple of small dents, which you should be able to see on the photograph. It also has a negligible bit of warping, this doesn't affect the way it closes. This tin is quite good inside, so ok for storing items, either to use in the kitchen - even to keep and serve biscuits, as originally intended. Or to keep elsewhere, storing jewellery, handicraft items or for interior décor.
This is quite an early one, you will see from the wording on the base of the tin, "Huntley & Palmers Ltd. Reading. Made in England"
This measures 20.5cm diameter and is approximately 9cm high.
I use these tins to display and store vintage jewellery. I am shifting some on, so am offering this here and starting the auction figure low. I will be listing more and if there's anything else you wish to bid on, please let me know. I am happy to wait and send items together, if it helps and can save some postage.
Please feel free to send me a message if you have any query.
Happy tinny bidding!
