~ 1920s FASHION REVIVAL ~
There are key eras of the 20th Century whose fashion we look back on and romanticize, the roaring twenties is undeniably one of them ~ and thanks to the hit TV shows and the period drama films we've been seeing recently, we have been engulfed in nostalgia and are now seeing a renewed interest in the fashion of the 1920s, and we couldn't be happier.
It was in the Twenties when women were induced with an injection of self-confidence. As the new emancipated woman was freeing herself from societal restriction and from the social mores which had defined her and limited her, she was also freeing herself from the constriction of the outdated crinoline and corsets ~ and with this, began adopting a new, carefree and often frivolous lifestyle, one in which she could smoke a cigarette in public and dance the night away to live jazz at the bar.....
These social changes brought with it huge changes in women’s fashion. For the first time women wore short bobbed-cut hairstyles which appalled their mothers; girdles were being left behind and looser, freer clothing became all the rage, allowing movement and agility once reserved only for men. Skirt lengths became shorter and shorter, something unheard of only a few years earlier; the loose, drop-waisted silhouette gained tremendous popularity, and a new name was born – the ‘flapper.’
The most immediate revival of the 1920s fashion sees the flapper dress as a defining dress for the spring/summer, offering up an essence of this statement style ~ loose-fitting, drop waisted and with beautiful embellishments, such as fringing and elaborate beading.
With so many styles to choose from ~ from the flirty fun-loving Bright Young Things who were the flapper girls, to the darker, mysterious edge of the noir vamp or the intoxicating damsel of the femme fatale ~ the 20s flapper and 30s Noir are fashion styles gaining as much enthusiasm and momentum this season as those women of the roaring twenties and delicious thirties notoriously lived their lives. ~
~ Kate Moss Collection ~
Supermodel turned fashion designer, Kate Moss has caused something of a frenzy since collaborating with leading high street store Topshop in 2007 to form her own collection, the Kate Moss Collection. Since 2007 Kate Moss has designed 14 collections for Topshop, each one inspired by items from her own wardrobe or moments of her life, capturing her unique take on all things vintage, bohemian and at times a little rock 'n' roll.
The Kate Moss Collection for Topshop has been the most popular design collaboration in decades, adored by millions, with each collection selling out in a matter of hours after hitting the stores.
But sadly, as with most things, good things must eventually end, and October 2010 saw the last Kate Moss Collection hit the shops as she ended her three year stint as incredible designer and face of Topshop. Since her last collection hit the stores Kate Moss's designs have become increasingly sought after, selling out everywhere as they did in record time.
Her collections from the past few years will become ~ in fact, have become ~ an important part of contemporary fashion history with many of her more famous and limited edition pieces becoming very rare, collectable and very sought after. In time, her designs will become more and more collectable ~ and one day we will look back and regard her pieces as we now look back at Biba or other similar brands as part of fashion’s evolving history.
Kate Moss IS fashion! Wear her clothes ~ and be part of that fashion history.
♥ SIZE: PLEASE SEE MEASUREMENTS BELOW TO BE SURE OF FIT...xxx
US 8/10 - estimated
Some items do not carry a full range of international sizes in the label so i use an internet international size conversion site to translate UK sizes into EURO and US sizes ~ the site has proved very accurate, however if you are unsure please check sizes for yourself.
All measurements taken with dress laid flat so please double up for all the way around where appropriate. All measurements taken with dress pulled a bit to flatten ~ and please be aware that there is inevitably a slight discrepancy in the ways different people measure ~ so all measurements are approximate and so please give or take about a 1/4 inch or so either way. Please measure against a similar garment of your own which you know fits you well.
Bust ~ armpit to armpit ~ approx: 18 inches.
Waist ~ drop waist 'flapper style' ~ taken just about the beaded band (please see pictures) ~ approx: 19 inches.
Please bear in mind that this is a '20s flapper' style dress and the waist is a dropped waist and a bit lower than actual waist, and is not meant to be really fitted in to the waist ~ please see pictures ok.
Hips ~ taken just about 2 inches below the beaded band (please see pictures) ~ approx: 21 1/2 inches.
Please bear in mind that this is a '20s flapper' style dress and the hips can be slightly fitted or loose, either way is beautiful ~ please see pictures ok.
Length ~ taken from armpit / under arm to the hem ~ approx: 22 1/2 inches.
