♥ DESCRIPTION: A stunning, very rare to find vintage, soft black with floral print, pure cotton, full skirted strapless dress & matching cropped bolero jacket by Laura Ashley, with beautiful styling ~ the dress features a strapless, lightly boned, structured bodice which shows off your shoulders and back beautifully ~ with five strips of the floral cotton in subtle tiers down the bodice, very flattering to smaller busts and to larger busts equally ~ quite a high waist seam, again very flattering to most body shapes and creating a very curvy hour-glass figure ~ lovely, mid-length (depending on your height, please see measurements), quite full skirt which flatters the hips ~ you could wear a 50s style petticoat underneath if you choose to make that very 50s full skirted look, or without, either way it's beautiful. ~ The skirt is pleated at the waist line and falls into looser pleats, and into the full skirt which moves beautifully as you move, walk, dance ~ the skirt ends with a subtle frill of matching floral cotton around the bottom just before the hem ~ & there are two concealed hand pockets. ~ The back is just stunning also, with the same subtly tiered bodice in the floral cotton ~ with a concealed long zip running down the centre ~ & the beautiful full skirt...It's just DIVINE!!!
The dress can be worn beautifully without the matching bolero ~ however the bolero jacket is a lovely addition to this outfit ~ and can be worn on its own with other outfits also ~ features matching black, light summery cotton, with the red, pink, green, yellow & mauve floral print ~ open fronted style ~ with very narrow lapels around the neck & down the front to the bottom hem ~ & full length sleeves with a single mother of pearl type button at the end for fastening. ~
This dress & matching jacket are just ABSOLUTELY gorgeous ~ So rare to find these matching pieces together ~ tailored so beautifully to create the most sexy & flattering style & fit, with the fitted strapless bodice & the gorgeous, very 50s style full skirt, which splays right out when you walk, move or dance... Just add red lips for that ultimate 50s 'Old Hollywood' starlet glamour...Gorgeous!!! Would look stunning for a summer wedding with a lovely huge rimmed hat!!!
Excellent vintage condition ~ soft 100% Cotton fabric, lovely to wear ~ in a soft black, with a beautiful summer floral print in red, green, pink, mauve and yellow ~ a real beauty! xxx
Please note that some photographs are taken with added petticoats to add volume to the skirts, these petticoats are not included in the sale ~ very easily purchased from a number of retailers online. Can be worn with or without petticoats ~ beautiful either way...

" I don't like ephemeral things, I like things that last forever....."
Vintage Laura Ashley.....so quintessentially English...
Ashley are one of the world's most recognizable British brands and have
over 40 years experience in making colourful, seasonal clothing with
retro styling and timeless chic, capturing the essence of the Victorian
era and feminine florals that make all of their designs quintessentially
English and timeless.
love of all things Victorian led to the longer length silhouette and
feminine styles which would become the company's trademark and was right
on trend at the end of the 1960's when fashion turned from the mini to
the maxi - a trend that has since returned with force emphasizing Laura
Ashley's timeless quality.
1961 Laura Ashley and husband Bernard Ashley moved from their Kent
home, the original design and production venue, to Carno, Wales, to
enable them to expand the business and be inspired by the rolling Wales
vintage pieces are now so sought after and desired! - and once you have
seen and worn their clothing you'll know why they are so adored!
~ Dior's New Look ~
On 12 February 1947, Dior launched his first fashion collection for Spring-Summer 1947. The new collection went down in fashion history as the "New Look" after the editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar Carmel Snow's exclamation, "It's such a New Look!"
The silhouette was characterised by a small, nipped-in waist and full skirt falling below mid-calf length, which emphasised the bust and hips. At a time of post-war fabric restrictions, Dior used up to twenty yards of extravagant fabrics for his creations. The New Look became extremely popular, its full-skirted silhouette influencing fashion and other designers well into the 1950s, and Dior gained a number of prominent high-profile clients from Hollywood, the United States and the European aristocracy as a result. Paris, which had fallen from its position as the capital of the fashion world after WWII, regained its esteemed position due in part to the attention it gained from Dior's New Look. The New Look was welcomed in western Europe as a refreshing antidote to the austerity of wartime, and was embraced by stylish women throughout the UK.
