YOU ARE VIEWING A SINGER TREADLE SEWING MACHINE NO 66 WOODEN BASE DATED WHICH WAS BOUGHT BY MY GRANDMOTHER IN 1930.
The machine was bought to enable my Aunt to complete an apprenticeship with the aim of becoming a tailoress. This my aunt achieved, eventually making coats and suits and altering my jackets on this machine. I use it for making quilts, and curtains due to the very large level size of the top surface when opened. I've had it fitted with a motor and pedal which can be removed and replaced with an original wheel belt if preferred. Also, I have a local Singer 'expert' capable of servicing this machine.
It comes complete with all the accessories in the manufacturers instructions plus many extra's bought by my Aunt.
In addition to 4 cotton reels there is also an original thimble (possibly Bakelite).
I would like someone who loves sewing to take over this Vintage and soon to be Antique piece of social history. Hopefully they will be able to use it with all the accessories to it's full potential.
The Sewing Machine Lifts upwards and forwards into a compartment leaving a flat top which can be used as a side table. There are two drawers which run the full depth plus a central 3 compartment drop down shelf for small items, thimbles, tailor's chalk etc.,
This item can be viewed and collected along with details of a rare local Singer treadle experts.
The wooden structure Oak? support measures width 46 inches open and 34 inches closed , depth 16 inches. height from floor 28 inches.
