~ Equestrian & Victorian Trend ~

The distinctive, sexy and elegant Victorian and equestrian looks are very on trend ~ and with their timeless elegance, always will be...

As design icon Ralph Lauren asserts 'equestrian is always in', perhaps because it can be worn with as much flair as fits your personality and always instils a sense of timeless class and subtle femininity as inherited by the Victorians who were able to achieve both rather admirably...so don leather riding boots and delight in the gorgeous hour glass silhouette intrinsic of the tweed jacket, or just as striking, the long black and flared riding coat, harking back again to the Victorian and Edwardian era.....

A really ABSOLUTELY stunning, vintage, long luxury, pure new wool, evening coat/dress coat or promenade coat, in an elegant & sophisticated jet black ~ by Windsmoor~ just the most divine coat, beautifully tailored & with fabulous attention to detail from the amazingly soft, luxurious & opulent velvet collar & turned back velvet cuffs, & oversized, velvet covered buttons, to the  beautifully fitted bodice and the incredible very flared & full, loosely pleated skirt, with equestrian style mock back belt.  ~ Very 50s 'New Look', 'Old Hollywood' starlet indeed ~ and also reminiscent of the Victorian / Edwardian Equestrian style riding coats, Gothic Noir...An exceptionally sophisticated and sexy look this season...

Such a sexy & flattering fit, with seaming down the front, drawing in the waist subtly for that 'nipped in' waist look ~ & then flaring out into the loosely pleated, full skirt, an absolutely iconic silhouette, which is just so gorgeous & which moves so beautifully as you walk & move...IT'S JUST SO STUNNING!!! A timeless design which never goes out of fashion!!! Loving this coat so much!!!

Looks fabulous worn with everything ~ from jeans and boots ~ to a haute couture evening gown ~ Perfection!!!

Excellent vintage condition.

Lovely, incredibly divine, soft & quite substantial smooth pure new wool, with black velvet detailing ~ in an elegant jet black  ~ fully lined in silky black ~ the perfect warm & glamorous coat to look gorgeous in at any time of year...xxx

HISTORY:

Dior’s New Look ~

At the end of WW11, it was impossible to see how fashion was to fit into the rapidly changing landscape. What it needed was a pioneer to symbolize change, thus Christian Dior became the dominating and most influential figure in fashion.

On 12 February 1947, Dior, the most influential fashion designer of the late 1940s and 1950s, launched his first fashion collection for Spring-Summer 1947. The new collection went down in fashion history as the "New Look" after the editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar Carmel Snow's exclamation, "It's such a New Look!" The hour-glass silhouette of his voluptuous 'New Look', which symbolized not only a new style, but a new hope after years of war, became the direction fashion was to follow through the end of the 1940s and on into the 1950s. The silhouette was characterised by a small, nipped-in waist and full skirt, for dresses and coats, falling below mid-calf length, which emphasised the bust and hips.

The New Look became extremely popular, its generously full-skirted silhouette influencing fashion and other designers well into the 1950s, and Dior gained a number of prominent high-profile clients from Hollywood, the United States and the European aristocracy as a result. Paris, which had fallen from its position as the capital of the fashion world after WWII, regained its esteemed position due in part to the attention it gained from Dior's New Look. The New Look was welcomed in western Europe as a refreshing antidote to the austerity of wartime, and was embraced by stylish women throughout the UK.
