It's an old model which can be bought cheaply on Ebay. It's miles away from the small compact digi cameras you can buy now for ~£150 but has a purpose. If you want a camera for use in a workshop (I use mine to document strip down and rebuilds of cars) or something to chuck in a bag for the unexpected shot or even as a first camera for a child it's perfect. It actually takes very good pictures and has some scene settings as well as manual and automatic modes. A built in flash does the job. It's quite bulky (in comparison with todays marvels) and eats ordinary batteries - you have to use 2300mAh Ni-Mh rechargeables for it to work. It takes standard SD cards and you can get these for next to nothing these days. I've used other Vivitar cameras in the past with very good results and have no hesitation in recommending them for the type of use I describe above. In fact I've recently bid and won 3 more Vivitar digi cameras for my young children to use. So, I would recommend this camera, just don't expect them to be comparable with the modern alternatives. And at ~£20 I don't really care if I lose it or break it and I can still get 5MP photos!Read full review
I bought my Vivitar 3935 Digital camera as an inexpensive backup camera to take on holiday last year Having had a camera stolen on a previous holiday I felt that it would be a good idea to have a spare. The Vivitar is a well specified camera, With a resolution of five million pixels good quality A4 prints are easily achievable. The 3x zoom lens is sharp as you would expect from Vivitar who have a good reputation as an independant lens manufacturer Whilst not the most compact of cameras it will still fit comfortably in a jacket pocket or can be attached to a belt using the loop on the back of the case. Like most modern digital cameras there are a number of exposure modes from fully automatic to manual, giving the user full control. The built in flash is adequate for happy snaps indoors and as a fill in flash in bright sunshine. Full specifications are available on the internet so I won't waste space here. I have read that battery life is an issue with this camera but I don't think it is any worse in this respect than other cameras using only two AA cells. I would recommend however that high capacity NiMh rechargeable batteries should be substituted for the primary cells provided with the camera as they are totally useless. I have been agreeably surprised by the quality of pictures produced using this camera and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive workmanlike toolRead full review
Purchased camara for my elderly mam, very easy to use and lightweight. pictures are clear and good quality. Only downside usues batteries very quickly, even good quality type batteries as rechargable not appropriate.Replacing batteries is working out expensive. Apart from batteries a good little camera good value for money. Ideal first digital camera
THE CAMERA IS A GOOD, LOW PRICED CAMERA. IT IS LIGHT WEIGHT AND HAS EASILY UNDERSTANDABLE FUNCTION AND MENU BUTTONS. ALTHOUGH FAIRLY LOW PIXELS IT STILL PRODUCES REALLY GOOD PICTURES. I HAVE PRINTED SOME OFF THAT MY 5 YEAR OLD TOOK AND THEY ARE LOVELY QUALITY. THE ONLY DRAW BACK THAT I CAN FIND IS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY A CRV3 RECHARGEABLE BATTERY AND A CHARGER FOR THIS CAMERA. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST!...I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THIS WAS A FAULT ON MY CAMERA BUT IT ATE BATTERIES AT AN AVERAGE OF 2 AA PER 8 PHOTO'S TAKEN (ON FINEST QUALITY). WHEN I BOUGHT THE BATTERY AND CHARGER IT HELD THE CHARGE AND TOOK UP TO 100 ON ONE CHARGE.
This camera is great for taking digital pictures.A cool silver colour and nice and easy to use. It has many shooting modes from fast frame (taking those shots of fast moving scenes, right the way to macro mode which is fabulous for those very close up shots, you can take a picture of a butterfly on a flower head and get every single detail very clear) The only downside I find to this camera is that it uses up the battery very quick, and as it is none rechargable batteries then it can become quite expensive. I have now purchased rechargable ones so much better. It also has a video shooting mode with sound so ideal for taking video of those unforgettable moments that just happen.Storage for video isnt limited, well it is I suppose, the limit is the size of the memory card being used at the time. The sound is nice and clear too.Read full review
