From The Web:
A lightweight bluegrass banjo with sparkling tone!
Over 100 years of Vega tradition and Deering's innovative approach to banjo crafting went into the creation of this Vega Senator 5-String Banjo. Fashioned as a bluegrass banjo with spun brass hoop and rod tone ring, a rich, warm brown stained rock maple neck with adjustable trussrod and a multi-ply rim with dual coordinator rods; the Senator has the time-honored Vega peghead profile. The hard, dense, colorful, exotic and naturally beautiful ebony fingerboard is inlaid with mother-of-pearl dots, and a Vega star at the fifth fret.
The exclusive Deering planetary pegs give you the advantage of tight and precise tuning. The frosted top head and Deering tailpiece enhance the Senator banjo's sound, characterized as a full woody tone with beautiful sparkle of clarity and the note definition desired by bluegrass players.
This Vega Senator Banjo is what many bluegrass players are looking for. It's a lightweight banjo, only 7 pounds, with just the right amount of sparkle; one that beckons the traditional player to pick it up for maximum comfort.
A Spun brass tone ring, ideal for Old Time, Classical, Folk, Civil War music, over 100 years of Vega tradition and Deering's innovative approach to banjo crafting went into the creation of the Vega Senator model. The spun brass tone ring gives it a bright yet warm tone. The Senator has the time honored vintage Vega peghead profile, and a rich warm brown stained maple neck with adjustable truss rod and a 3-ply rim with dual coordinator rods. I acquired this Vega from a recently retired person, who wanted to take lessons and quickly lost interest. This Senator is in excellent condition. There has not been a lot of playing time on this Banjo. It has set in it's case in the closet for the last 8 years.
This Vega has one interesting upgrade. It has had a banjo transducer installed for electric play. (See picture #4, #5). I do not have the footpedal or the pre amp in order to operate this.
I am starting this Auction at .99 with no reserve, so bid strong and bid often. Stay with this to the end. Don't let someone out bid you in the last few minutes of the Auction.
Weight: 6.10 lbs.
Serial number: #0239106 G780
Excellent Condition. Light strumming scratches on the banjo head. (See picture #1, use zoom feature). Slight discoloration on the fretboard in the first and second fret. (See pictures #2, #3). I am sure that there is a small scratch, nick or something. After all It is used. I cannot find anything. Deering Original Hard Shell Case is included. Case is in good condition. The only issue is one of the latches is not working. The hasp is missing. It is the latch nearest the handle. Other than that, everything is fine. Look at the pictures closely. They will tell the story.
All functions work as they should.
Bid on it like you want to own it!
