You are bidding on a very rare Morrison road bike, made in New Zealand in the early 1980's.

Morrison were one of two firms making bikes in New Zealand at the time, they built Raleigh bikes under licence in New Zealand from the late 1960s to 1987ish. This is about all I can find out about the brand. The only other Morrison bikes I have found have mostly been red, I haven't seen a man's blue Morrison yet, only a ladies bike....

In the short time I have had the bike, it has had a full strip down, new bearings, a regrease and a full rebuild. I am a Cytech qualified bike engineer, and work in a bike shop as a mechanic, so you can be assured that this bike has been stripped and rebuilt properly. In the shop I work at we would charge £100 for this service, to give you an idea as the amount of work that has been done.

I have included a picture of the bike fully stripped, so you can see that I am not lying! I have put new cables on the bike, both gear and brake cables, both the inner (the wire cable) and the outer (the black housing). The bearings are new and the wheels have been trued (straightened). I have put new chain and cassette (both Shimano) and have put brand new bar tape on too. I have also put a Selle Royal saddle on. I have taken it on a test ride to make sure it's fully functioning. It rides really nicely now.

The seatpost measures 58cm or 23inches, the top tube (From seatpost to stem) also measures 58cm/23inch. The stem is short so could be used by anyone from about 5foot 9inchs to 6foot 3inchs I would say.

The dropouts (where the rear wheel slides into the frame) are the old style so this bike could be made into a single speed or fixie (fixed wheel) should you wish to do so. I like the original look, hence rebuilding with the original Shimano gears but thought I should mention it, in case you are looking for a fixie project.

There are some marks and scratches as would be expected from a 30year old bike, there are no dents. I have tried to provide pictures so you can see.

Please have a good look at the pictures as I do not accept refunds or returns. You are bidding to buy.

The bike can be posted the day after payment is received and will cost £25 to mainland UK only. Alternatively you can pick the bike up from Norwich, please contact me in advance. As I work in a bike shop, the bike will be bubble wrapped (or whatever protective material we have from unboxing a new bike) and boxed in the same proper bike box that the bike I would have unboxed comes in.

I have a Raleigh Routier and a Dawes Shadow which are also being stripped and rebuilt and will appear on ebay soon - please feel free to contact me if you are interested in either of these bikes instead!

Questions and answers about this item

Q: Does the bike have steel wheels or alloy? Also, Do you have any steel wheels for sale?
A: Hi andynorwich2, It has 27x1 1/4 steel wheels. Think I missed that out in the description...ooops! Also, what size of steel wheels are you after 700c or 27x1 1/4? Thank you for your enquiry.
