NEWTON'S QUALITY CURIOS AND PERIOD ITEMS.
DETAILS ABOUT THIS ITEM: Note hand for scale. c.11.5cm high. A very classy piece, difficult to date, but with a 1950s look and feel. In a dense stoneware type material with, intially a smooth dark brown glaze which has then been dipped / brushed with ashy grey and mauve glazes and fired to bubble-bursting point. All part of the texture; note the big blister on the handle; not damage, all part of the process. No maker's mark, but an old yellow and black sticker on the base which looks like an auction lot number or a collector's label. Very tactile, very striking and very 'period'. A little work of ceramic art.
N.B. Mobile phone camera photograph does not convey quality and crispness of detail.
PLEASE READ THE NOTES BELOW:
NEWTON ART AND ANTIQUES specialises in sourcing and selling intriguing, small, easily mailable antique and vintage objects of a generally non-fragile nature.
To qualify for inclusion in my stock, an item should fulfil at least three of the following criteria; it should be old, rare, beautiful, well made or interesting. I will also be including items which are representative of their period in decorative terms.
In order to ensure a rapid turn-around and customer satisfaction, items will usually be listed for three days only and will be posted as soon as possible after Paypal payment has been received. Money back if not entirely satisfied.
To speed matters up, I’m not messing around with artificially low starting prices but will begin with an amount for which I’m willing to part with an item. As I am dealing only in items which appeal to my personal taste, I am perfectly happy for them to remain in my possession should they fail to sell. There are no Reserve prices.
I hope that my comments on style, possible date and condition can be taken with confidence; I have a Fine Arts degree from the University of Cambridge and have been collecting and dealing in antiques and curios for forty years. My Feedback file of well over two thousand happy customers should also give you confidence in my judgement and efficiency!
Unless stated otherwise below, all items - including books - can be taken to be in what would be generally regarded as good condition. Where the size of an item is fairly self-evident it has been omitted. Please use your common sense about the size of items (I try to include my hand in the photo to give scale!), but if you are genuinely interested and want exact measurements and details, please do not hesitate to contact me.
As I say, if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, I will be happy to refund your money and postal charges.
N.B. Please note that the detail and decoration of some items are much crisper and better defined than in the accompanying photographs, which are occasionally taken with a mobile phone camera and in inadequate, early-morning light.
PLEASE NOTE THAT I CAN ONLY ACCEPT PAYMENT VIA PAYPAL.
