This auction is for one of two original 1950s cheongsams I have to offer. Ah, how I love these oriental pieces! 

 

 

This example is made form blue silk with a floral design to it. The pattern sort of reminds me of fireworks. Very pretty, and very bold. It has quite a high neckline as is typical of these style dresses. It fastens with a metal zip and poppers too.

 

Measurements:


Bust: 36 inches.

Waist 30 inches.

Length 37.5 inches.

Around a size 10.

Condition: Excellent. Excellent. This dress was originally smaller and has had its darts removed, but this is only noticeable when you turn the dress inside out.

 A little bit of background on me: I am an obsessive vintage collector and have amassed a huge collection of vintage from Victorian right through to the 1980s. I am about to embark on a rather pricey masters at the Royal College of Art (studying design history) and henceforth I am having to sell off large portions of my collection to fund my studies. Over the coming weeks I’ll be listing everything from glamorous 30s evening dresses, to novelty print 50s day dresses to 60s beaded shift dresses. I can’t believe myself quite how much I have amassed! I am also selling items from the collection of Naomi Thompson, including items that featured in her recent Style me Vintage: Clothes book.
