The Seiko S60583
This is an excellent example of the now famous Seiko 7549-7009 professional saturation divers watch.
This watch was manufactured in August of 1979, making it an early piece. It is in excellent condition and
I am very sad to let it go.
This watch is a true titan of the deep; a proper tool watch that more than exceeds the requirements it
was originally designed for. This model was the first titanium cased quartz divers watch and quickly saw
use by professional divers the world over. Even James Bond chose to wear it on missions… Need I say Moore…
49mm in diameter (without crown) and 16mm high.
Dial and chapter ring:
The dial is in mint condition and is signed Seiko Quartz SQ Professional diver’s 600m.
The lume on the dial and hands match perfectly and glow nicely, but fade shortly after
charge as you would expect with a watch of this age. The chapter ring is also in mint condition.
The hands are in excellent condition.
The crystal is an NOS Seiko hardlex replacement in mint condition and has a new Seiko gasket.
The bezel is in excellent condition for it’s age. Very minor scratches cover the laminated acrylic surface
of the bezel insert and there is a tiny dink in the metal at the 30-minute position.
(Please see photograph where it is highlighted with a blue circle)
The case in made of titanium and is coated with titanium nitrate; it has a few minor marks on its underside
due to normal use. (Please see photographs)
The strap in used condition. It is very much wearable but the rubber has hardened and is showing its age.
Please see photographs. The buckle is in good condition with minor areas were friction has worn the titanium
nitrate coating. Please see photographs.
The shroud is made of titanium and is coated with black ceramic. It is also in excellent condition other than
2 very minor marks and 1 tiny nick just above the crown position. (Please see photograph where it is
highlighted with a blue circle)
The movement is the Seiko 7549 quartz (hacking) model and is running strong and keeping near
perfect time (-5 seconds a month).
This is a 35 year old vintage watch in excellent working condition. The watch has recently received a
NOS Seiko hardlex replacement crystal, new gaskets and battery, but has not been pressure tested.
Obviously, being vintage, I would not in any event recommend taking it diving!
The watch has no box or papers.
Thank you for your time.
