RUSTIC HAND CARVED WOODEN HOUSE PLAQUE
WOW!! This is a cracking looking INDIVIDUAL and very UNIQUE rustic house name plaque!
Hand Cut and Hand Carved .
NOT A CNC computerised stand and watch' robot carved plaque. (Uck!!)
And the difference shows!!
£25 postage £5.50
Sorry the price is a little on the high side for this one, but this particular plaque has several extra details plus a lengthy and time consuming drying proccess to obtain the desired effect/result. Hence the slight extra charge. Take a good look at the gallery pictures and you will see the results. I have been asked many times to make larger plaques. Regretably I no longer do them. This particular plaque is the largest I now cut and carve (6" deep and up to 24")...By hand... Reason? Old age!! Say no more!
I am an old style woodcarver who uses his hands to carve with. Not computers carvers! And never want to!!
A UNIQUE DESIGNER PLAQUE WITH CHARACTER!!
A plaque with difference!!
A PLAQUE WITH A VERY BIG WOW FACTOR!!!
My hand carved name plaques are truly different!
They are not cut by push button laser straight robot CNC machines!!
They are all carved by hand. And the difference shows!!!
Please take a close look at my listing pictures and click ‘Enlarge’
You will then see what I mean!!!
The plaque edging and digits are hand carved to give a rustic ‘driftwood’ and aging effect.
The outer edging is dark stained to give the plaque a picture frame finish
More time and work is taken to make them, but the finished item is stunning!!!
Well seasoned Softwood
As many letters and words as you like that will fit!
Heavily varnished RONSEAL (the best!) for adverse weather resistance
The Ronseal gloss finish gives this plaque a truly stunning appearance!
A fabulous looking plaque at a very reasonable price!
AND THE WOW FACTOR AS ALWAYS COMES FREE!!
Just one price. £25 plus £5.20 postage
They are well worth double that! But I am happy at just £25 plus £5.20 postage!

Fixings and fixing instructions supplied with all plaques
When ordering, please let me know the name or wording you would like to be carved. It is quite amazing how many of my customers are so eager to buy my rustic plaques that they completely forget to send the name they wish me to cut and carve!!!! If you are not to sure how to send the name or instructions if any, you can use the message box on the Paypal paying page on your computer. I will then contact you to confirm your order has been received. If you would like to submit your own plaque size, please do so. And if you are still a little unsure, you are more than welcome to leave your telephone number and I will be give you a call.
A note about Post and Packing. (or why I do not use a tracking service!)
I make the plaques, I wrap the plaques (very well!) and I post the plaques and I enjoy the time and effort that it takes to make my rather unique style of plaque, but I have no control over what happens to them once they are handed over to the PO. The Post office have lost some of my items. As a result, unsuspecting customers think that it is my fault and that I have not sent their plaque, which is entirely understandable, but untrue. I have found that it is a complete waste of time complaining to the P.O. as they take an eternity to delve into the cause. In the meantime customers understandably get concerned and begin to think the delay is of my making, when it clearly it is not. I would ask that if you have not received your plaque within 10 working days from the day that I inform you that I have sent it, that you please let me know and I will cut, carve and send another. For what its worth, I will inform the PO that you have not received your parcel. It is far easier for me to make and send another than indulge in the inevitable wrangling and time wasting with the PO. By so doing it overcomes bloated bureaucracy. (I notify all customers by email on the day that the item has been posted, informing them that it is on its way)
I have been asked by customers whose plaques have been lost by the PO, why I do not use the PO tracking service, My answer is that given the Ebay costs, Paypal costs, Postage costs, Material costs and then a Tracking service cost, there ‘aint gonna be no nuts left for the monkey’s breakfast from the selling of such a low cost item!!! Your understanding re the above would be very much appreciate
A word or two about RUSTIC!
Well maybe a little more!!
For more years than I care to remember, my business has been connected with forestry work, chainsaws, and the general husbandry of trees, and I have enjoyed every single minute of it. But, age waits for no man, especially old age! With much regret, I have decided to retire from the cut and buzz of chainsaws and tree work to spend more time enjoying the passion of my life, plaque making.
Before I go any further, I would like to explain the meaning of the word ‘Rustic’ as defined in the dictionary. The word ‘rustic’ means ‘simple’, ‘artless’ and ‘un-sophisticated’. Timber surfaces that are rough and irregular are considered ‘rustic’ in appearance. But! If worked artistically, a rustic hand carved plaque can be made into a thing of beauty when prepared, shaped and carved. The letters and edging on my rustic plaques have an intentional, un-sober ‘wobble’ appearance both in text and edging which can clearly be seen in the close ups in the pictures. When treated and varnished the plaque acquires a truly authentic rustic appearance. A quick word about varnish! There are many cheap varnishes on the market of which I do not recoommend or use. I only use the best! RONSEAL! Compared to RONSEAL the rest are also rans.
The finished item is enhanced by the beauty of the heavy, well seasoned meandering grain that you can only get from softwood timber. Please take a good look at the photographs to understand my meaning. Rustic ‘wobble’ carved letters take longer to cut and carve to get the right effect, but the finished item looks truly stunning.
When the word ‘rustic’ is applied to the person, it means a country person of a rather unsophisticated nature. In days of old that person was probably called a ‘country bumpkin!!’ I shall say no more for fear of incriminating myself!!
After the carving of the letters, the background is then worked to give an aging effect and the ‘wobbly’ hand carved letters are hand painted black. The whole plaque is then heavily varnished. Letters can be painted in any colour you wish, but in my opinion there is only one colour for rustic name plaque lettering, and that is black. The finished plaque is then coated with three coats of Ronseal varnish to give it a deep gloss finish. Greater resistance to harsh and adverse weather conditions is another benefit of a triple layer of a top quality varnish.
If you have a preference for upper case / lower case or non italic, then please say when you order otherwise the font style will be as shown in the pictures. The font style in the photograph is in my opinion, the best suited for rustic plaque letters. Others can be considered but please ask before ordering.
My prefered choice of timber is softwood because of the arandom and attractive grain patterns.
Fixing holes at plaque ends are not attractive. All rustic plaques hand made by me DO NOT have unsightly end fixing holes!
