~ WW2 Era Four Bladed Propeller Fairey Firefly Mk IV RN Carrier FAA Aircraft ~

The set comprises wooden 4 blades with metal leading edges, bearings & castle nuts, and the central hub.

The hub is stamped "AWP7 8", "2189" & "RA99 22".

A rather rare find and would make a superb architectural feature.

The hub would have been original fitted to a Fairey Barracuda and reused later on the Firefly.

~ Fairey Firefly ~

The Fairey Firefly was a British Second World War-era carrier-borne fighter aircraft and anti-submarine aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm (FAA).

It was superior in performance and firepower to its predecessor, the Fulmar, but only entered operational service towards the end of the war.

Designed around the contemporary FAA concept of a two-seat fleet reconnaissance/fighter, the pilot and navigator/weapons officer were housed in separate stations.

The design proved to be sturdy, long-ranging and docile in carrier operations, although the limitations of a single engine in a heavy airframe reduced overall performance.

~ Dimensions ~

The hub measures 16 inches (40.5cm) long by 16 inches (40.5cm) wide, with a depth of 10 inches (25.5cm). It weighs around 20Kg.

Each blade has a total length of 75 inches (190.5cm), and a width of 12.5 inches (31.75cm). Each blade weighs around 30 Kg.

Due to the weight of each component part the 5 sections will need to be posted separately, hence the postage charges.

~ Condition ~

The blades are in very decent order. Some the blades has some minor surface wear, and one of the blades has a chip near the tip.

Please note that the blades should have been photographed reversed as the propeller is a left hand tractor.
