I am currently in the process of listing several ORIGINAL ISSUE WW2 RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) books and magazines.

Each once belonged to Mr eric Jewell, a former RAAF officer of that terrible time.

His collection covers UK, Malta and the Middle East, as well as some Australian issues.

Each, being a wartime publication, giving facts as they were presented to the public at that time. Later, more modern re-writes may or may not be more accurate, of course. But these ‘re-live’ for us now the war as it was being experienced by our parents, grandparents and their colleagues.

Each is available in a separate sale, unless already sold.

Each book is in better used condition; naturally, condition varies.

Condition of each is more specific in individual listings. [Any other variation or pertinent information is noted in that listing].

Prices vary in accordance with rarity, desirability and condition; but each is precious and, by now, scarce and desirable..

I am listing all titles here for your convenience, but please note that this sale is for just one of the titles; it is the book that is described in green below, is shown in the pictures and named in the title of this listing.

Here are the items:

1: THE EPIC OF MALTA : 128 page hardcover with somewhat tatty dustjacket, as viewed. Undated by publisher; hand-dated 1944 by Mr Jewell.

2: WW2 ROYAL AIR FORCE SIGHT LOG BOOK for use during Operations. Owner’s name inscribed on front cover (linen-on-board hardcover; recessed titline) and within. 3 pages used. These are dated 1943/1944. Perhaps 100-150 pages unused. (I’m not counting them!). VGC.

3: R. A. Saville-Sneath’s Second Book of AIRCRAFT RECOGNITION.

First Edition. 1942.

What a ‘find’ this is! Format is as shown in examples, a mix of identification silhouettes, information and supporting photographs.192 page softcover.

4: R.A.F. MIDDLE EAST 1942 Official Publication. 144 pages. Comprehensive account of the war February 1942-January 1943.

8: The W.A.A.F. IN ACTION. 1944 Hardcover with dustjacket. VGC overall. Many photographs included. (W.A.A.F. = Women’s Australian Air Force.

9: FRONT LINE 1940-1941 . The Official Story of the Defence of Britain. Published 1942 by His Majesty’s Stationary Office. 160 pages. Some surface wear at spine edges. Still sound, solid and clean.

10: R.A.A.F. official publication WINGS Magazine July 1945 inc BOUGANVILLE’S LITTLE WAR. VGC. Lots of other stories and photos, too. Plus letters and fun quiz page. Intensely interesting and comprehensive, a quality publication. Infrequent but interesting advertisements. Back cover features an advert for Mustang fighter planes, made in Melbourne. 32 pages.
