Every once in a while in the business you come up with wiw items. This is a moment for me with this picture. This is a Marine Wireline photo of the second flag and most famous flag raising on Mount Suribachi. 6 men participated and three survived the campaign. The photo was taken on February 23, 1945 and this was signed in May 1945.The photo was signed for Admiral Floyd Ferris and was found in his scrapbook that came from his estate. It is autographed by John Henry Bradley, Pharmacist Mate USN; Ira H Hayes USMC; and Rene Gagnon USMC. Admiral Gagnon notated at the top "signatures of the three survivors since the photo was taken autographed in May 1945" The additional line was added on the way, "Uncommon valor was a common virtue".

This is the ultimate WWII of photo. This is the most copied photo in the world. While this is a wireline photo, it is the Marine version and unusual. It was also signed by the surviving trio months prior to the end of the war, ostensibly for Captain/Admiral Ferris. Captain Ferris was from a very wealthy American family who had invented the Ferris Wheel. He went to the US Naval Academy and graduated near the bottom of his class while on probation. He had a stellar WWII career.

This is a very significant original period photo signed during the war by the three flag raising survivors. The size is 8" x 10" and a very slight margin tear on the left, midway down.

I am a old school wholesaler dealer and scour GA and New England for the best to buy for my customers. I am also the founder of WorthPoint and would encourage all to visit it if you want to research antique prices.I focus on happy repeat customers and love what I do and try to ensure all customers are happy. I do not stay glued to my computer and have a real job so please do not expect instantaneous answers. Consider your source when buying. I have sold over 15,000 items on eBay and have 100% positive feedback.

I charge GA sales tax to GA residents. I specialize in paper, photos , coins and militaria. I sell about anything except reproductions. If it is not old, I say so. If there is a defect, I also say so. If you know more than me about something, that is OK, as I do not mind learning or being told that I am wrong and strive for accuracy. You can always learn more in this business. If I make a mistake, and we all do, I will take responsibility for it and you can return the item.

If buying internationally, email me for final postage if you are the winner. eBay's quoted postage tends to be too high for a 1st class envelope. Also I make a full decloration of sales value, thus please do not ask or expect otherwise.
