The original protective coating that is simply melted prior to use. These food-grade waxes are provided in flat slabs with each slab providing sufficient wax to cover and protect many cheeses.

To melt the wax, the simplest method is to use a 'bains-marie': alternatively put the wax in a suitable basin and stand the basin in hot/boiling water until it becomes liquidified. Cheeses may then be painted using e.g. a pastry brush, or dipped in the molten wax to cover and protect the surfaces. Once coated, allow the cheese to cool by standing on some form of support e.g. a cake rack: once cool, invert the cheese and re-coat.

Each slab weighs 1 kg and available here in clear (transparent) form. The wax is also available elsewhere in our Ebay shop, in yellow, red or green varieties and these use FDA approved pigments for their colouration.

It should be noted that the clear (transparent) wax is naturally a pale amber colour when sold. However, unlike the coloured waxes, it contains no pigments at all and will therefore melt to a produce a virtually colourless film.

Store all paraffin waxes in a cool place, away from direct sunlight.

Due to the latest unbelievable Royal Mail price increases, our postage costs unfortunately must reflect this. On a brighter note, for the UK we now offer the far cheaper 'Hermes' service as an alternative, but please remember that this delivery may be somewhat slower than the Royal Mail. You will see that additional orders attract very little increase in the total postage cost.

Please note that we can send up to 30kg to Ireland, France, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands for just £17.00 whilst here in the UK we can send up to 15kg for just £10. If you wish to take advantage of these bulk rates, please request an invoice when ordering rather than pay straight away - this will give us the chance to amend the postage.

We sell over 100 items in our eBay shop, that vary in weight from 3g to 50kg, so I'm sure you can appreciate that it is impossible to devise a postage system that covers every possible purchase combination! That is why we stress that if customers are buying multiple items, then please ask for an invoice first; that way it gives us a chance to correct the postage part accordingly.
