Presented to Wayne Gardner by Honda, in celebratory Rothmans colours, following his winning the 500cc World Championship, this bike was registered to an address in Switzerland (photocopies of Gardner's Swiss documentation to prove). Then bought by a German collector, until it was imported to the UK.
The bike has had a checkover, including a full carb strip and rebuild. On reassembly I had the tickover down to sub-500 r.p.m. and it was steady as a rock, and eerily quiet for a gear-driven V4, a really awesome motor. When it came to me, there was a sugestion that the bike had been tweeked by Honda, but I never found anything remotely non-standard (a bit like the "blueprinted" engines used by Bimota!). Supposedly it was running kit head gaskets, but I seriously doubt it. It's just a really nice stock VF thou with a little history! A rare appreciating classic.....
Currently on German papers, successful bidder will need to apply in his/her name for UK registration papers. I will provide a brand new MoT. For this reason, it will need to be collected by van or trailer.
The bike has minor stone chips to the lower fairing. The screen is cloudy. There are also scuffs on the R/H silencer. Tyres are in good condition. Chain and sprockets look fine. Mileage is in Kilometres, and equates to 19.000 miles. Clock faces are clear and unmarked. Beneath the bodywork I'd say it was immaculate, clearly it's never seen rain or road salt. There is no corrosion or touch-up paint anywhere. It's an unrestored, original VF1000R.
Terms of the auction: Winning bidder to pay within 48hrs by PayPal or Bank transfer (preferred) No exceptions. Reserve is set at a paltry £3000. If I'm not getting enough interest, I reserve the right to cancel the auction. Vehicle to be collected within 1 month from Ipswich, Suffolk, UK. I may be able to deal with the paperwork if the sale goes smoothly, but I'm abroad a lot, so there may be delays.
Happy to answer any further questions.

I omitted to say that the paintwork was scrubbed on the front fender by the transport company that brought it to the UK. It's metallic White on white plastic, so it doesn't show in the photos. Apologies for this. hrc race kit rc30 vfr rs1000rw, rs850r rs750r motogp grand prix erv kanemoto
