RARE First Edition / First Printing

**Original Retaining The Scarce Original First Issue Dust Jacket**

***The First & Rarest Book In The Winnie The Pooh Quartet***

For sale I have this highly desirable and exceptionally Rare original Antique children`s classic `When We Were Very Young` by A A Milne. Published in London in 1924 this is the first book in the much loved Winnie The Pooh quartet and with a low initial print run proves very difficult to find. To add to this it has retained it`s original correct First state dust jacket which is very very scarce.

The book is bound in its original blue cloth covers presenting as a very good- example. The covers show light signs of age wear with some rubbing to the front board and a few mild marks. Corners a touch soft but all perfectly square with the gilt to the spine and front board bright. Internally again very good with the blank endpapers as called for. These can only be found in the true First edition as all later printings had patterned endpapers. Neat owner bookplate to front which has shadowed to the ffep else untouched with no owner names or inscriptions. The contents remain nice and clean with no markings at all. All margins and hinges very tight with no cracking. The reverse of the main title page shows just the date of first published in 1924 with no other prints mentioned again identifying this as the true first.

The dust jacket is the correct original First Edition / First Issue jacket and as such is extremely rare. One of the better examples you are likely to come across due to the paper quality of the time and a jacket that has survived well. One or two corners ever so slightly bumped with one tiny piece missing from the spine tip else complete. The spine has discoloured a touch from sunlight but on the whole the jacket is clean and bright. Both flaps have the correct information to identify it as the correct first issue and it is priced at 7/6 on the spine.

Overall an incredibly scarce and collectable book and one that in its jacket is certainly absent from a lot of serious collections.

Good luck and please take the time to browse my other items as I have some other scarce books listed now.
