Whitefriars Art Nouveau Sea Green Vase

A Whitefriars/Powell vase in an excellent condition.

A beautiful sea green vase, similar to one shown in Lesley Jackson Whitefriars book(see bottom of listing), this one being entirely sea green, vase based on German strangenglas form, most likely designed by Harry Powell, late 1890s to early 1900s.

The vase is very light and delicate in appearance, it is very finely fluted(18 in all I believe) but hard to photograph, best seen in the shadow of 1st picture, with four prunts to the waisted area and a lovely applied trail which swirls arround the base. Inside the hollow base you can see the snapped off pontil, and when you flick the rim gently it makes a beautiful high tone that goes on for ages.

The condition is excellent, no chips or cracks, the glass is exceptionlly clear, the base, rim and trails are damage free, there is slight discolouration on upper trails(see last picture), as you can see from other pictures and angles it is barely noticeable, more like an optical effect.

Measurements are approx 21cm tall with a 10cm rim diameter and 9.6cm base diameter, weight is 0.275kg unpacked, will be very carefully packaged for transport.

Similar to one shown in Lesley Jacksons "Whitefriars Glass The Art of James Powell & Son", top of page104, plate 31(iv), this one being entirely sea green.

Overseas bidders please contact if you wish to bid, as I will have to work out pricing for postage for you(and enable you) before you bid, since item will be double boxed at about 2kg packed.
