Harwin 718 Component Assembly System – Pinning machine

 

This machine will be of particular intrest to CNC mahine builders for the XY table and drives.

 

Please do not confuse this with a stepper motor system, this is a high speed servo XY table,

of solid construction, using Parker servo systems and THK ball bearing guides.

 

This machine is in basic working order and can be seen running,

there are two video clips available to download one of the machine running a program

and one of the machine performing a table self test.

This machine is large, heavy and difficult to move, to give amateur machine builders a chance

to buy the XY table we will give you the option of stripping the parts from the machine on-site

and leaving what's not required.

 

MACHINE OPERATION:

This machine is used for inserting press-fit pins into printed circuit boards,

the program code is basically an edited version of the PCB NC drill program with co-ordinates

of the holes that require pinning, a sample program is shown below, the units are in mm.

MACHINE OPERATION continued:

The board is fitted onto the XY table, on running the program the safety door will close and the

 XY table will move to the first hole position specified in the program,

a servo driven anvil rises up to meet the underside of the board, this is to support the board

during the next step.

 

The insertion tool then lowers, cuts a pin from a continuious roll and press fits it into the board

in one operation.

 

The Z axis is not a conventional lead screw arangement but a servo motor driven crank that is

geared down using toothed belts,

this performs the cut and insert operation in one 360 degree rotation of the final output shaft.

when the pin has been inserted this is confirmed by an optical sensor fitted to the anvil that measures

the projection of the pin through the board. the anvil then retracts and the xy table moves to the next

co-ordinate.

 

The entire Z axis head can be moved up and down by means of an air driven motor driving a lead screw,

this is to accommodate different size tool heads.

 

The machine is built inside a acoustic insulated enclosure, the front of the enclosure hinges upward for

access to the XY table.

The machine is as far as we can tell in basic working order, and has been in storage for several years.

it is in good condition for the age with some minor scuffs and scratches to the exterior.

We have no pin stock or boards so the testing has been limited to a "dry run".

The pneumatic system has not been tested.

The machine is being "sold as seen", so ensure that it will suit your application before bidding.

The machine has 2 pin insert jigs and an alternative insert head, please see photo's of all additional parts.

 

IMPORTANT please note:

The diagnostic menu and program menu are password protected and we do not have the password.

There are no operating or program manuals.

The cutter blade on one of the insertion jigs has been broken, but some spares are included.

The pin reel holder is missing.

 

Some minor damage has occured to the machine during storage:

 

Air presure gauge broken

Main isolator housing is broken

One adjustable foot damaged

DELIVERY OR COLLECTION - IMPORTANT PLEASE READ:

collection is prefered, this is a heavy machine, we have access to a fork lift only at certain times,

you will need to give us plenty of notice prior to collection.

we also have limited storage space and the machine must be collected within six weeks of the sale.

with me first to make sure that your vehicle is not too large.
