YAMAHA DDP2 DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 DECODER
The Dolby Digital Decoder accepts a digital signal, with the use of a single cable, from the output of a Standard DVD Player, DVD Recorder, Blu Ray Player. Connections can be made with a single RCA phono to RCA Phono connector cable. Alternatively an optical connection can be used with TOSLINK connectors at both ends. The DDP-2 Decoder provides 6 phono outputs (5.1 outputs) which can feed amplifier(s) of your choice.
NEW YAMAHA DESIGNED IC CHIPS
Yamaha has designed and employed single funtion IC chips, called ASICs -- Application Specific Intergrated Circuits -- for the DDP-2. ASICs are more efficient than multi-function chips and provide the most accurate decoding possible. Yamaha's YSS-243 is an ASIC whose single function is decoding Dolby Digital.
A second new ASIC, YSS-245, provides Yamaha's exclusive Tri-Field Processing which applies Digital Sound Field Processing technology to Dolby Digital and creates a true movie theater experience in the home. It develops independent enhanced sound fields for the front signals as well as for the left and right surround.
ELECTRONIC INPUT SELECTOR
Electronic input selector with two optical and two coaxial digital inputs makes the DDP-2 suitable for use with DVD players.
THREE DYNAMIC RANGE CONTROLS FOR DOLBY DIGITAL
Minimum, Standard, and Maximum Dynamic range settings allow optimization for different home theater enviroments.
FLUORESCENT FRONT PANEL DISPLAY
The fluorescent front panel display makes it easy to see the DDP-2's operating status.
SET-UP OF THE DDP-2
1. Use the test button this sends a white noise signal to each of the speakers in turn: Left, Right, Centre, Left Surround & Right Surround, LFE (SUB). The front panel displays the speaker in turn so you can be sure each output corresponds to the speaker you are hearing.
2. Select either input 1 or input 2 on the front panel. The Dolby Decoding is automatic and is fed to the 5.1 outputs which are feeding your amplifier(s)
Buyers please note slight corner scuffing in top left hand corner. This unit has been fully tested by me with a Blu Ray source into the decoder with a TOSLINK connection into both inputs. I have also used the test button (signal generator) for checking correct speaker connections. Fully Operational at 25/04/2012. Happy Bidding!
