Zildjian 20" Large Stamp crash/ride

-mid 1950's vintage-

This 20" Large Stamp weighs 2000 gms. The issues relating to the condition of this cymbal is shown in the photo below. Bell hole hairline cracks that were repaired by extending the large channel can be seen here, along with several hairlines emanating from this channel being terminated by drill holes at their ends. These defects have been adequately addressed so as to prevent any further growth.

The sound of this cymbal a bit drier; so the cymbal sounds a little more like flat ride but with more overtones. This allows for increased stick defintion while attenuating any excess overtones. This could be a desirable characteristic for a quiter musical applications such as might be called for in a jazz trio setting. In my opinion this cymbal has a character similar to the cymbals from the recent Zildjian Limited Edition Dark-Thin crash ride series.

Despite its obvious imperfections, I think the soundfile demonstrates that this is still a viable musical instrument from one of Zildjian's better eras.
