For sale this fully renevated 1947 HOBBS OF BARBICAN racing bike/cycle.
This cycle was renevated by me last year, but never used, so i am selling it to pay for a cruise.
The frame number is E (or could be F) 72303, I was told by a dealer that this is a 1947 model.
These are the new parts fitted;
New Brooks B17 leather saddle
New 1/8th chain
New handlebar tape
New front wing nuts
New brake blocks
New tyres and tubes
New brake cables
New old stock l/h crank
New front light bracket
New stainless spokes in both wheels
The original parts are as follows
GB stem and bars
GB brakes complete
Both front and back hubs are chrome Bayliss whiley
The seat pin is the original dombed top alloy 27.2
The right hand crank is a Williams
The chrome rat trap pedals say made in England 501 but other than that there is no makers name.
The bottom bracket is the original, which i beleive to be Bayliss Whiley, but as i put it in last year I cannot fully remember.
The chrome rims are the original 26x11/4DUNLOP lightweight, which are a little pitted but in amazing condition considering their age, i am a retired wheel builder so i re-built the wheels with new stainless spokes, there is no dents or flat spots.
The frame was renevated at tremendous cost i have listed a photo of the invoice.
But there is a small issue with that when it was renevated a couple of small dings wasnt filled which is a bit disapointing but such is life, i have photographed one, i do not want any arguments after, other than that it is now ready to ride or put in your shop window.
There is also a couple tiny marks which have appeared while it as been stored by me.
I will deliver it free by myself within a radius of 75 miles from Skegness in Lincolnshire other than that make your own arrangements, i will not send it for fear of it getting damaged in transit.
Anybody is welcome to come and examine the bike at anytime but please email me first.
