They don't build them like this any more
Perhaps its decades old, but it's so well built it seems totally reliable - with the kind of distinctive pictures that I was hoping for from film (Fuji 400 not Ektar, I think). Meter doesn't seem to be much good but FotometerV2 is a £2.50 app for my iPhone which does the job fine. Sent well packed and throughly cleaned up. Thanks.

A great camera once you allow for the learning curve.
Over all a great 120 film camera provided you allow for the learning curve. Don't rely on the exposure meter it isn't accurate. You will be better off with a small hand held meter like the Sekonic 308 or even the 208. Take the time to play with the camera without loading any film. It takes practice to get the framing right. All TLR cameras show a reversed image in the view finder. You have to move the camera left to frame to the right and vice versa. Having said that it takes a great picture. for most purposes it rivals the Hasselblad 500C and the very expensive lenses that come with it. It has to be the best 6x6 camera I have used.

Great handhelt street photography camera
This is my first TLR, and I'm amazed at its possibilities. Guess this camera will replace my Leica for street photography work. Very unobstrusive and light. Handles like a charm and the picture quality is amazing. I loved the built-in sports finder, the smooth film advance crank, and the silent shutter. Great camera for handheld work. One drawback: the built-in light meter needs a mercury battery that is no longer available

A good TLR, has all the features you want/need.
The Yashica-Mat 124G is in my opinion one of the best TLRs on the (used) market. They are certainly a lot better than the plastic Russian TLRs, and also on par with the Rollei ones. The Rollei TLRs have slightly better lenses, but considering price difference between a used Rollei and a Yashica, the Yashica-Mat 124G is a much better buy. The Yashica-Mat 124G is also the top of the line Yashica model, with the better Yashinon lenses and a built in light-meter. It's also has the rare feature that it takes both 120 and 220 roll film.
