It's about this high school chemistry teacher who finds out he's dying, has a handicapped teenage son, and a wife who is mid-pregnancy. He obviously has to leave them something to survive on so he uses his talents to start cooking crystal meth. I found the show very funny at times. The characters have very human reactions to these situations. They go through some really tough stuff, but at times I couldn't help but laugh at how you can see the characters thinking out their actions in the most bizarre situations. And it's in these moments where the acting in this show really shines through, when not only do you believe the character, but you can tell how he arrives at his actions though the thought process. Another thing that adds to that realism vibe is the chemistry, and come on, who doesn't love a show about illegal things?Read full review
Without doubt the most addictive tv show I have ever seen. I literally got hooked on this series and watched all 4 seasons over a month. Walt is a chemistry teacher, suffering from lung cancer... As a yes man, he's always done what he was told. Not any more... If you have. Life sentence from cancer hanging around your neck, why not cook the best crystal meth in the world and moe some money :) I am dying for season 5, which is going to be the last season, to come out. The cast, the story, the gritty edge this has is unlike any other show. It makes homelands look tame. Do you love Walt and jessy or do you hate them? One thing is for sure... You'll be drawn In by them both. Best show I have seen.
Well scripted and brilliantly acted, this shows doesn't really fit into any genre easily. It's drama, but more than that. Recommend if you like The Wire, Sopranos, etc, or just enjoy intelligent, well-written TV that doesn't assume that you have the attention span of a goldfish.

I bought this series because an American friend recommended it. I had never heard of it so I decieded to buy the First Series. I was not disappointed. Walter White rocks! This meek mannered chemistry teacher turns into a crystal meth cook to put some money aside for his family after finding out he has terminal lung cancer. Sounds weird but it works, full of black humour, pathos and courage. I liked the 1st series so much I bought the 2nd and the 3rd!
I actually watched season 2 first and thought it was a breath of fresh air in the drama world, so waited for season 1 to lower in price a bit before biting a seller's hand off for this DVD. I'd strongly recommend this for any lover of quality US drama TV series. Some excellent black humour in a new and interesting situation. Go buy season 1 then hunt out season 2. Hopefully season 3 will follow before I gnaw my own leg off...
