We have had a similar Hayter for 17 years which was not new to us. It cut very well and was more reliable than other mowers we have had. When it finally wore out we bought this model and have found it to be a very good mower in great condition - at the price we paid it was a real steal.

As a second hand bargain this is the best. Less than £20 for a mower that runs, after a very minor tweek perfectly. A great quality mower at any price.

I always had the cheaper Mountfield but they never lasted so invested in a used Hayter. Heavier but flies through the lawn. A self propelled model would suit the older gardener as a bit heavy to push on a big garden. Built to last though.

This would be a perfect little mower except that the wheels have perforations around the bearings and, guess what, just like an old postage stamp, the wheel easily separates from the hub. it's happened on two separate wheels. You can Araldite it back together, but it's never as good. Why not have solid wheels that would last for ever? What was the designer thinking of?
