I bought this HP 8470P used and refurbished and love the fact that it came with Windows 7 Pro. The computer is fast and reliable. I almost immediately upgraded it to a 1T SSD and 16 GB RAM. Now it boots to the desktop in under 8 seconds. This wasn't a necessary upgrade - the computer was fast to begin with but I wanted more memory and storage than came with the purchase. Pros: Very solid build. DVD RW optical drive. Two USB 3.0 ports, plus two USB 2.0 ports on the opposite side. Quiet operation. Easy access to RAM modules and HDD. Original user manuals are available online for repair and maintenance if one doesn't come with the laptop. Cons: 1) Before I installed the SSD the laptop ran quite warm even though it was elevated to allow for maximum airflow to the vents; but that said, I have read on many forums that people think these computers are running too hot when they are actually operating within normal range. 2) Be sure and watch which screen resolution you are buying if that is important to you. I thought it would be an easy swap to go from 1366x768 to 1600x900. Not true. Apparently the 1366x768 res screen and display cable are NOT upgradeable on this model. Would I recommend this computer? This is one powerful laptop. The product was delivered in A+ condition. Everything worked perfectly right out of the box. I decided to make it even more powerful by bumping up the RAM from 4GB to 16GB, running at 1866Mhz. I also installed an SSD and a 9-cell battery. It boots up and shuts down in less than 10 seconds. The i7-3540M processor can take on my tasks very well. This will be my laptop for a LONG time! It doesn't disappoint at all.

I have bought quite a few of these machines. They are amply made, and represent an outstanding value for the money. There is no guarantee on battery life; I find that there is no need to replace it with a new one. Some do not come with charger, but chargers can be obtained at bargain prices. No HD...no biggie. I just put in a more desired SSD, and pump up the memory to 4-8 total GB. After that is done, what results is a top notch laptop that satisfies me most completely. For those not wanting to do the same...that's okay; the processor is fast enough, and memory does satisfy for most situations.

Item appeared to show minimal wear for an off lease unit. but unit arrived with poor packaging that caused dents in the metal top lid...as to the unit it is a blazing fast unit with the i5 dual core Intel 3320M processor an Intel 180GB SSD and Win 7 Pro. it arrived with only 4GB of RAM...replaced that with 16GB asap and it improved performance greatly.. at the price of the item and another $80 for extra RAM and you have a blazing fast laptop at a great price....get one if possible...this is the fastest laptop I have ever used and I currently use two Lenovo and two other HP units with assorted AMD A8 and Intel i7 quad core processors all of which are newer units that this one.
