Beautifully filmed, with an outstanding central performance. The storyline holds the attention throughout, it is a revealing and disturbing insight into life under the shadow of the Taliban, and is refreshingly free of signposted sentimentality and plot manipulations of mainstream commercial cinema. Beautiful and memorable.

This story is a must to watch its about an Afgan family during the time of the taliban, were all the men have died in various wars, so to support themselves the daughter cuts of her hair and dresses as a boy to work and earn money to eat. You really want to watch this film to get an idea of how the taliban treated people under there rule, its bad enough for the men, but for the women folk of Afgan its like they dont have any feels or future as women in the society they are seen as chattle. Its a heart renching story so get your tissues ready!!. This film i have watched repeatedly and it still gets to me everytime. I believe from reading articules on this film that the real girl this film is based on was released when the americans got into Afgan.
