The second series in this gloriously funny, yet heart reaching story of intertwined families from Manchester. Follow the rollercoaster ride that is the everyday family life of the Gallagher's et al through the trials and tribulations of school parents evenings, run ins with the law and an ever increasing tapestry of storylines which will have you sitting on the edge of your seats, crying with laughter and then with sadness. Falling in love with the characters who live on the Chatsworth estate is impossible to resist and I would highly recommend the Christmas special which is especially compelling. It can take some time to get used to the sex/violence and gratuitous use of swearing used by the writers to represent real life on the estate, but watching the programme and getting to know the characters allows the viewer to see underneath this gloss and appreciate the programme for the multilayered approach it takes. Well worth a watch and certainly worth revisiting if you are a fan!Read full review
Series 2 of Shameless continues where series 1 left off and at this stage the main characters are all still there and more. The Maguires (irish gangsters) are brought more into it and Marty the Tourettes sufferer is in more episodes just so funny. The younger characters are growing up now and their roles in the series are growing too - natural progression of their characters and each storyline is just so good and well written. Again this DVD is not one for younger viewers due to the content and what goes on at the Chatsworth Estate but I was crying with Laughter throughout. Don't watch it with your Nan ! The only disappointing bit is the exit of Posh Lad - one of the good characters goes but with the new characters coming in to take his place its still very very good. Again I would give this 6 out of 5 if I couldRead full review
Shameless is probably one of the most exciting series to hit our TV screens in years. Probably Mary Whitehouses biggest nightmare come true in the shape of the Gallagers the family that you would not want to live next door to but can't help but be fascinated by - The one thing I like about this family is there resilence to cope with all the odds stacked against them - The series reminds me of an update of Carla Lanes Bread brought upto date in the naughties! You really do want most of these charecter to suceed in a worls which has written so many people off - watching this series you go through every possible emotional and at teh end ...... You are awaiting season three which will hopefully return to channel four later this year. Shameless lives up to its name - The Acting is not good its brilliant - although teh subjects and topics covered are woudl reccomend only for an 18+ Audeniece - not the kind of show I woudl want to watch with my Nan !Read full review
More fun and frolics with Frank gallagher and his ever increasing clan. how can you not feel sorry for this scruffy old cynical layabout? this series hust seems to get better and better. If you haven't seen it yet, then DO! Like many dramas it does have the odd heart wrenching moment (usually when you least expect it) though not always with the character you expect. The funny moments are of course much more common and at times anbearably laugh out loud hilarious. If you want comedy and darma that's closer to life with more believable characters, then this is the one for you... I for one will be buying every last episode.
