Originally I bought this Book with the intent of sending it to my Mom who worked on the A-20 Havoc Bombers as a Riveter at the Douglas Aircraft Company in Santa Monica CA. during WWII. To me, as I read it, it became a Book that I couldn't put down. So I ordered another copy for my Mom and will keep this one for myself. This is a very detailed, yet easy to comprehend Book on: as the title says, the progress of American WWII Aircraft production starting mostly in the late 30's and continuing up to the end of the War. The stories of the owner's of the Aircraft Corporations and their part in the formation of their the Wartime production of the various aircraft and the prodigious numbers in which they were produced is mind boggling.! This is a story that was long overdue. Especially interesting are the stories of the Employees's and the diversified backgrounds from which they came and the difficulties that had to be overcome in order for them to be able to function as part of the team that worked with such skill and speed.Read full review
