It is a good album!

The problem with this album for Oasis was that it was never going to match the first 2, and I don't think anyone since has come close either. Still it is a good album despite it being a bit too long and massively overproduced, but after all, this is Oasis and huge anthems is what they do best!

1. D'You Know What I Mean - Long intro and outro but a great anthem with a bit of a psychedelic side. Apparently has over 30 different guitars in it! 9/10
2. My Big Mouth - Great riff and a good rocking tune with a wall of guitars! 9/10
3. Magic Pie - Noel sung. Bit more experimental but drags on a bit. 7/10
4. Stand By Me - For me the highlight of the album. Great song. 10/10
5. I Hope I Think I Know - A bit average this one. 6/10
6. The Girl In The Dirty Shirt - Quite a good, catchy tune. 7/10
7. Fade In-Out - Great bluesy song. Was great live too. 9/10
8. Don't Go Away - A great Oasis ballad with a brilliant vocal from Liam. 9/10
9. Be Here Now - A good catchy rock n roll tune. 8/10
10. All Around The World - Yes it's too long and borrows "na na's" from Hey Jude but it's still a great upbeat anthem. 8/10
11. It's Gettin' Better Man - A great driving rock n roll anthem. 9/10
12. All Around The World Reprise - As if the song wasn;t long enough in the first place. Unnecessary but serves as a good ending for the album. 6/10

Overall well worth a listen

Oasis - Be Here Now (CD 1997)

I dont understand why this cd is always called a let down by critics this was the fastest selling album of all time and after the first 2 albums is isnt hard to understand why, this album has some quality oasis songs again a cd that you will play start to finish without skipping half a dozen tracks to get to the singles, i wouldnt say it it better than morning glory or def maybe but it is alot softer of an album which is prob the reason for this being the case as we had become used to oasis being the guys who rocked the house down! this ablum could well be any other band in the world best album if you havent got it your missing out the first track sets the tone you know what i mean!Read full review...

oasis masterpeice

An amazingly produced rock and roll masterpeice! One of the only albums I can listen to from start to end, every note, foot step, door slam and toilet flush included! From rock anthems like all around the world to ballads like stand by me. Even a bit of country guitar thrown in played by Johnny Depp, this album is truly a lyrical and musical fantasy. One of Liam's favorites too! There's a couple of heavy intros that turn into melodic beauties. And the B-sides to the singles are amazing too if you can get your hands on them! trust me! Not one person i know dislikes this album. Buy it!Read full review...

A very good album, why so harsh?!?

With so many reviews of this CD, I wanted to put my own opinon.

If you not heard this album beofre, or you have but not for a long time, grab a copy. Before you listen to it, sit down with a copy of a few current bands' CD's such as the kooks, kaiser chiefs, zutons, killers, editors, anything you like. After listening to those, sit back and play Be Here Now and I'm sure you would agree it is at least a match for anything out there today. Oasis released two legendary albums prior to this so were always going to struggle but look at some of the tracks that missed out and only made it to b-sides for this album - Angel Child and Stay Young (which was actually dropped from the original line up for the album itself!!).

I Hope, I Think, I Know is a lively tune, Be Here Now is a throw-back to the heavier tone of the previous two albums but for me, Magic Pie and The Girl in the Dirty Shirt are classic Noel tracks and worthy of being in anyones collection.

Overall, I would agree with some people that this is not the bands best effort at an album, but it is hardly a poor attempt when compared to other albums released by different bands. Take it on it's merits and I'm sure you would agree that it is worthy of being in any rock + roll fans collection

Not one of their best

It isn't one of the lads best and I think even they would admit that.

Having said that, there's one or two class tracks on it, especially, 'I hope, I think, I know'

The test to a decent album (in my opinion) is How many of the tracks do they play at a gig, and How many tracks have they put on their recent (best of) Stop The Clocks album?

The answer is none and none!!

Average album for the best band in the world.

oasis 1 of britains best.

this cd is superb and although not oasis best work this cd really stands the test of time u could put on any of todays bands such as killers, zutons, razorlight etc and this cd could stand alongside any of these and it would not be out of place with such anthems as stand by me and all around the world if like me u love oasis its a must for your collection. however if i had to pick a fault i would have to say that it does not hold a candle to definatley maybe oasis first album. that said oasisare still 1 of the best things to come out of the 90s musically of that there is no doubt.Read full review...

oasis not their usual standards

as said in the title this album fails to live up to the usual standards met by the band .im sure you all have your favourite oasis songs but you'll be hard pressed finding a favourite in this album. not bad to own if your an oasis fan but for a person who is looking for classic albums this is not one of them.Read full review...

A good album for any die-hard oasis fan

Many people wernt impressed by this album....written at the height of noel gallaghers well documented drug abuse.....but if you are a real indie fan this is a fantastic album......magic pie and stand by me are great songs as a re the girl in the dirty shirt and fade in out.....dont go away is a deep thoughtful song.Read full review...

Still going strong!

I never understood the criticism for the album. Let alone the criticism from Noel himself. I personally think that it was the last album where Oasis where miles above the competition. A giant of an opening track - what an awesome tune - before a pretty solid album. OK, what is the (reprise) thing all about? But apart from that it is the last truly great Oasis album!!!Read full review...
