The TD-W8960N Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router from Chinese networking giant TP-Link is designed to be the final piece in this puzzle by providing ADSL2+ connectivity to your home network via four 10/100Mbits/s Ethernet ports plus high-power Wireless-N (otherwise known as IEEE networking standard 802.11n).
Once it was up and running, I was blown away by the fact that my maximum download speeds jumped from 12Mbits/s to 16Mbits/s, which was totally unexpected. Connection stability was also rock solid, with 0% packet loss on 3 consecutive pingtest.net tests, and less than 1% loss after sending 1,000 packets to my ISP.
Worked straight away
No wireless/LAN dropouts
Easy to setup - Good GUI
I run one of these in preference to a free BT Home hub and when a customer of mine wanted Wifi cameras set up I had no hesitation in ripping out his BT Home Hub 2 and replacing it with this.
Home hub interfaces are a pig to use, TP-Link is a breeze especially when port forwarding.
Handles many cameras seamlessly as well as streaming and web browsing across a slow 3.5 Mb download line.
I will be looking for another in the near future.
Best modem/router yet, smart, easy set up with cd.
During set-up the only other thing you need is your
IP address and password(your ISP provider will have given you these.)Far better wireless signal than the "free" router supplied. Run the cd, don't tick or untick any boxes just let the cd run, typing in the boxes your IP address and password(ALL case sensitive.)
Brilliant for the money. looks good, great compatibility with various carriers with settings already stored, I only wish it had gigabit ports then I would be really happy!
reliability well its a bit new yet, features if you dig that deep are excellent but possibly a bit techy for some.
simple setup to get you going via the supplied mini cd, which is a pain if you have a slot loading laptop, copy the the disk to a usb stick 1st.
once setup no problems at all and a good range from the box
When I first got this router I had so much trouble with it. After I read some reviews on the web I found I had set it up wrongly . After setting it up correctly I have now got rid of all the wires connected to it. I have also moved it to my hallway, so everything is wifi. I also have an Apple TV which now works great with AirPlay. I would buy another one of these without hesitation.
