A fine anthology series!

Hammer house of horror was a thirteen part anthology series made by Hammer studio's in 1980.
The stories varied in style, while at the same time combining the horror ingredient that hammer were best known for.
The series featured many big name guest stars such as,Peter Cushing,Diana Dors,Denholm Elliot and many more.
The series remains one of the best british anthology series of all time and to this day it still packs a punch!

WHEN 'HAMMER' CAME TO TV

Once available as 4 separate video's comprising 13 tales of horror, made for TV, these can now be obtained on 2 DVD's as a box set. Anyone who recalls the series with affection, will want them, and they are also recommended to those who may have missed them.

As to be expected, some come off better than others. The most memorable one's for me, are 'The Silent Scream', which contains one of Peter Cushing's finest performances,'The House that Bled to Death', 'The Two Faces of Evil' 'Witching Time' 'Visitor from the Grave' 'Charlie Boy' and 'Children of the Full Moon', which benefits from having Diana Dors, in the cast. These are the best of the bunch, but others may have their own particular favourites.

In short, well worth having as a reminder of when 'Hammer' were not only going strong at the cinema, but also turning out films, made for TV.

Obsessive horror fan reunites with Hammer House!

This is a must for horror fans. The 13 episodes bring back memories of my childhood, this was my first taste of Horror and I loved it. I was concerned that on seeing them all again, I would find them all tacky and old. This was not the case!! I have been watching them with my teenage daughter (who is now a converted horror fan) I have been watching them one episode a week and have found myself looking forward to my "horror night in" with my daughter....... ENTERTAINING STUFF!Read full review...

Amazing cult horror collection and great value! Fantastic entertainment!

I bought this complete collection on DVD as I remembered being scared as a child watching this. On reflection it was not suitable for a ten year old child but I don't think it had any long term effects! As I remembered as a child this collection is absolutely amazing for its time. The box set is compact even though it contains all 13 episodes! Excellent value and well worth the investment if you like classic horror tales.Read full review...
